How do you define "The One"?

We always hear this phrase...so and so wasn't "the one"; I've already found "the one"; I'm still searching for "the one". But what exactly does "the one" represent? It sort of suggests that there's only one person for you out there and you just have to find each other. And there are obviously plenty of people out there who could be "the one" for us. For me, "the one" could refer to a relationship that lasted; that both parties involved were at the right place in their lives when they met thus making the relationship survive. So Im curious..what does "the one" mean to you? How do you define it?

"The""is a definite article and denotes something or someone you've already mentioned or identify and known to the people you talked to about that person or thing. so when you say "the one" the people you talked to about that person is known to them or they know the (one) person you're talking about. you talked about finding a certain character or personality and you found him or her, so you can tell those you discussed with that i've found "the one". this is my opinion.

My "the one", or should I say "the two", are my husband and baby. I love them both equally. They inspire me. They are the reason for having a family.

I never know about 'the one' too. I response basically on instinct but of course we'll have to try and error in search for the one. Is there any love at first sight to find the one? Very rare!! The one for me maybe is the one who can cover my flaws, reminds me when I forgot, help me up when I'm down. I guess
