Jesus can't say no to Mary?

I recently read in a discussion that apparently part of the reason that Catholics pray to Mary is that Jesus can't say no to her. (for those who don't know people pray to Mary who then brings your request to Jesus) Well that would mean then that if a Catholic prays to Mary that they win the lottery; it will happen. If you tell Mary your request and you ask to win the lottery; Jesus will grant you that prayer request cause he can't say no to his mother. Well then my family must be sitting on loads of hidden riches. Hhhmmmm

LOL, thank you for the laugh, really I'm still trying to regain my composure!:D Jesus says that whatever we ask for in prayer, we shall recieve. Why hasn't everyone won the lottery?!? We ask Mary for her intercession because it was through her intercession that Jesus started His ministry!:D

Don't thank me for the laugh. I didn't say that Jesus couldn't refuse his mother. Another myLot member said that. My discussion and your reaction just shows how silly that was to say.

And yes Jesus says in John 14:14 If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it. **but notice he doesn't say if you ask my mother I will do it.

You have misintrepreted again...I was laughing about your "win the lotter" example. So, when Jesus says, Whatever you ask in my name, you shall receive; He is excluding His mother? If Mary asks Jesus for something in His name, does she recieve it or not?

Do you really think that Mary would tell Jesus to make anyone win the lottery? She has her own mind and knows better.

Then what's the point in praying to her if she can decide to not take your prayers to Jesus? I used the lottery as an extreme example.

So your telling me that she can say no to your prayers? When did God give up that authority? If she can say no then she is considered a diety with power to do so. If she is ONLY a mediator between you and Jesus; then she does not have the authority to decided which prayers will be answered and which won't.

Although I was raised a Catholic, I've never quite understood the whole pray to saints or Mary idea. If I pray, I pray to the source not to saints, or Mary. If Mary is just passing the information along, and Jesus says no- wouldn't that mean he's saying no to you not to his mother?

But you keep giving these "souls" the godlike ability to hear many people at once. How did they get that ability?
