Nowadays, hand shampoo and body shampoo are more popular than soap. Other than using shampoo I still like putting a bar of soap in my bathroom or on the washing basin. Do you use soap or shampoo while washing hands or bathing? I put the fragrant bathing soap in a pink porcelain holder whereas the soap on the washing basin I place it in a green plastic case. What type and color of soap holder do you prefer? Or you just simply put it there without using any holder. When using the public restroom or restaurant wash basin I prefer using hand washing shampoo which was attached to the wall. It is much more hygienic than using the bar of soap. Do you feel disgusting when seeing hair or other stuffs stick on the soap there?

Hi there. Actually I have these soap holders in our bathroom, shower and laudry/wash house area, As I find them to be of good use... I have blue soap holders, which are really only there for decoration, as we all use and are use to using liquid soap...

Yes, I agree, certain soap holders are artistically designed for decoration in the washroom. They are very lovely and could attract people’s attention and love them. Some people even decorate their bathroom with real potted flowers and other green plants.

Hello lkbooi, I am using a bar of soap for washing and our bathrooms have a soap holders where we put it in. As for the soap I used for my bathing I have my own soap container as I don't want to share it with anyone. I don't really mind what color it is but what I am currently using is a color blue one. :-) In the restaurants usually what they have are liquid soaps for washing hands. I wash my hands with it before I eat my food.

It’s more hygienic to use our personal soap in our own container especially in public washroom. In restaurant it is more wholesome to provide liquid soap rather than the bar soap. It is a healthy habit to wash hands before eating. It is our traditional culture to do this.

Nowadays soap are becoming rare and could be hardly seen. Most people prefer those liquid bath lotion. I am using the liquid lotion too, because I found that it's more convenient than the soap which need to be held in hand when applying it. But in fact we shoud use the soap because it's more environmental friendly. It's usually packed in paper and doesn't need the plastic container which is non-biodegradable. The soap comes in many varieties and qualities. I prefer those soap which would not easily dissolve in the water and having aromatic fragrance. But one of the con of using the soap is, especially when we are sharing the bath room with someone else, who happen to be using the same piece of soap, is that you will be disgusted by the hair stuck on the soap. If I am sharing the soap with others, I will rinse it with water before and after I use it. In such a way, it's more hygenic and less likely to disgust the next user.

That's funny LoL. It's possible that the solid soap will be obsoleted and displayed in the museum if we continue to use liquid soap. I am concerned about the environment, so if possible we should avoid using the liquid soap and switch back to the solid one. This will help cutting down the pollution alot. I rinse the soap after using it, because I feel it's disgusting for the other people to use it without or forget rinsing it. Thanks for selecting my response as the best one!

Thank you for telling me the using of liquid soap will raise the problem of pollution. So I think I would better follow your words to avoid using the liquid soap and switch over to the bar soap so as to reduce the water pollution. As pollution in our environment is getting worse and worse nowadays, so in this regard all of us should have the responsibility to maintain environmental health. So as an inhabitant of this planet we always have the worry that, one day would come when the earth is so polluted that we couldn’t live on it anymore.

It is sorry that nowadays people rarely use soap anymore as they find more convenient to use liquid soap. I guess after few decades soap might only be found in the museum. It is a good idea to consider the bottle of the liquid soap as environmental unfriendly. You are so kind to be aware of these for the world health which most people tend to be negligent. You are so kind hearted to clean the soap after use so that the next user would love to use it.

I use shampoo for my hair and soap for my body. I love to use different brands of soap to avoid using the same kind. Sometimes I use both soap and shampoo for hands when I wash my hands. I usually love white soap, sometimes green as well. Anyway I feel happy for using both.

I think you use soap for body and not for the hair could be due to the reason that soap is more caustic than shampoo and could cause more harm to the scalp. It is nice to use different brands of soap as it could provide different fragrance and reduce the risk of being exposed to the same type of chemicals in the particular brand of soap. I love white soap too as it contains less coloring matters.

I use Body soap. I have never liked the way a bar of soap makes you feel. I think it makes you feel sticky and gross. So as soon as the whole idea of liquid soap came around I grasped onto that and ran with it because it doesn't make me feel sticky! I feel the same with using bar soap even on my hands. I think it just makes you feel gross.

Hi raychill, have you tried to put more water on the bar of soap to make it smoother? In this way, you won’t feel so sticky or gross I suppose. Generally shower and hand wash shampoo are most liked as they are convenient and easily to be applied.

I washed myself with bar soap for 20 years of my life...of course I used more water. I think that bar soap is just as convenient and easy to apply as Liquid soap (i've never heard of it being called Hand or body shampoo before. to me shampoo is what you put in your hair) and I think it's more a matter of personal opinion which you use than convenience.

I know exactly what you mean by feeling sticky and gross after using bar soap. I think it is difficult to get all of it off of you, and that may be the reason why it stays on. I mostly use body wash. Cocoa and Shea Butter scented, because it reminds me of my great grandma's bathroom.

i still use soap and i do put it in a soap holder. i just feel that it's more hygienic that way. i used to use body shampoo before. but i can't find one that's whitening, and since i'm particularly keen on keeping my complexion, i switched back to soaps, because there are lots of choices. but i've never bought hand shampoos. i prefer soaps for my hands. but i have used some, in public bathrooms, since those are the only ones available there.

Hello, swirlz, I do agree that to place the bar of soap in a soap holder is more hygienic as it could never make other area get wet and dirty. For me it’s rather expensive to use liquid hand wash than soap so I put only the bar of soap in a plastic container on the hand washing basin.

Although I have liquid handwash in the kitchen I still keep soap in my bathroom. It's more economical and also it's just nicer to use I think. I keep it in a clear glass shell-shaped dish on the corner of the bath. I mainly use it when I'm having a bath though. If I'm having a shower I use shower gel. Yes the soap in public washrooms is usually pretty gross - if there is a dispenser on the wall I'll normally use that instead.

Other than shampoo I do have bar soap in my bathroom. I use them randomly as I feel like doing so as they have different peculiar scent and texture. It is more convenient to use bar soap for small area washing. I like those unique and beautiful soap holder especially the crystal types. I believe your shell shaped glass dish must be quite lovely and attractive. Of course the soap in public washrooms is usually rather gross as it is more economical. It is definitely more hygienic to use a dispenser rather than the bar soap in public.

I never use bath soap for washing hair as it is rather inconvenient for me to apply it on my hair. I prefer hair shampoo and apply it straight away on my hair with proper massaging with water added as well. Yeah, quality soap could give better effect and last longer. A bar soap with good quality is normally finer and gives nicer fragrance, with smoother texture.

I too use bar for washing hands or for bathing. The lotions available today come out to be costlier than soap. Also tthey can be dropped by children, so that will increase expenses. I will and forever prefer soaps.

You are right, eshaan, using soap is more economical. It is easier and safer for children to use as it is not scared of being dropped. Children might play with the bottle of shampoo as they find the fun of squeezing the bottle and this causes much wastage as well.

Well done my gal! It is always a good habit to keep the soap holder clean and dry after using. This could always avoid the soap from being soaked in water and dissolved consequently. I have a light plastic soap holder on the wash-basin in my kitchen. As the pattern holes underneath were so small that they always get blocked and collect water. I then punched some larger holes on it and I finally solved the problem lol... I always try not to use the public soap as far as possible because it is not so hygienic or due to its repulsive and unfamiliar smell.

I understand that it is more convenient to use hand soap in the bathtub as we could hold it and rub on to every part of the body freely. To keep all those stuffs in a holder could provide a tidier look for the bathroom other than for convenient purposes. Beside having a plastic holder for hair and body shampoo I got a porcelain holder specially for the soap as it always gets wet after using.

I use bar soap in the shower. I used to buy body wash but I figure soap is cheaper and it probably lasts longer too. I don't have a preference I just buy whatever is on sale. When I'm not in the shower and I'm washing my hands in the sink I use dish washing liquid diluted with water that I keep in an old liquid hand soap bottle. I just use that instead of buying more hand soap.

Bar soap is really more lasting as we could control how much soap to be used more easily. It is a good idea to use the diluted dish wash as it is not so harmful and wasteful as compared with using the concentrated one. I will try this idea soon. Thanks.

Hi there my friend c",) I love using dove milk bar(soap) and one time it comes with the white-dove-shaped soap holder that looked so cute in the bathroom, i like having white soap holders. For hand washing we have another soap for that and other times we use liquid soaps. And i agree that it's disgusting to see hairs on the soap so in the house i keep my own bath soap after taking a bath...

Hi mycharm88, I had answered your discussion about the sharing of bar soap. The dove milk bar soap with pretty carving looked lovely in the image attached. I do like using white color bath soap as it always looks cool in white color but make sure that no stain or other nasty stuff leaving on its surface.

Yeah, for me its disgusting if there's hair stick on the soap. Actually i am using soap bar and bath cream vanilla also. There's no differences using bar and cream bath... Hygienic or not, its usually depends on the soap. Does it contain "Sulfur" or may "Triclosan"? Triclosan is an antibacterial compound that usually added in "anti-septic soap" and many cleaning products for hospitals, because it can break the bacteria's cell walls and prevents germ.

Really! I don’t understand why people never aware they have always left disgusting stuff like hair on the soap. I use both shower foam and bath soap alternately. I prefer these with mild fragrance. I always try not to use medicated soaps as I don’t like their pungent smell of anti bacterial compounds.

Yeah, though most of the people are using shower foam many still keep bar soap in their bathroom for occasional use. I do choose a soap holder which has larger holes for fluent drainage so that less water to be collected in it. This could make the soap looking nicer and more lasting.
