For me it's a couple of things. I'm the type of person who needs someone/something to take care of and pamper and having a pet keeps me from feeling alone when I'm home. I don't mind the work it takes to care for a pet because when I have one it becomes part of my family. I enjoy it when other people are interested in it and get to know and love it the way I do. It's like having a child to me and being proud of the way it looks and the things it can do. What do you think is the best part of having a pet in your home? Do you feel proud when people get to know it and enjoy it as much as you do?

Growing up I've always lived in a house with at least one pet. I think it's great for kids... because it's your first experience in learning how to care about something else. It also shows responsibility "No billy... don't squeeze his head" ha ha. you know. plus it's nice, when you live alone, to have someone else living and breathing in the house with you. It's nice to have someone to love you without it costing you a fortune (meaning..instead of kids!) and it's really nice to have someone there to talk to and be there for you even if they never have anything to say.

You have all that right! I think kids should have pets to learn responsibility. And yes, it's nice to have someone here to talk to...but he is learning to answer me now! lol....

Yeah, Reggie Cat answers me with his tail wagging. He yells at me too sometimes. Animals are better than humans I think!

I think it's great to have a pet, ctry. You are right about the need to have someone or something to take care of. I don't have a pet at this time, but have had them in the past. I think the huge fee I would have to pay for keeping a pet where I live has made me hesitant about getting one. I am thinking of getting some goldfish because we always had them until I moved to where I now live. I wouldn't be required to pay the fee for goldfish that I would have to pay for a cat or a dog. I had amassed a collection of teddy bears, but I started giving them away a few years ago to children. They were much like pets but without the animated companionship.

I know what you mean. I have some stuffed bears that I keep in a chair in the living room and they are almost like companions also. I've actually given them all names...lol...

having a pet is like having a true buddy, a true friend..someone who loves you unconditionally.even if you leave them behind for a the whole day, they still greet you with happiness when you come back..they love you for what you are. they're there when youre lonely. they cheer you up in their own way...me, i have a pet dog.she's like a family. we love her so much..and she acts like a human sometimes..we're so proud of charly! ^_^

As you might guess, I have 2 labs. They nver cease to amaze me and make me smile and laugh. They are warm and loving and great company. They are smart and they have their own social circle, they have dog friends and then there are dogs they don't know. When walking down the street, when they see a dog friend, they get excited, when they see a dog they dislike or don't know..they go on guard. They are my buds.

I've had pets literally all my life and I could never imagine my life without pets...they are like my family and kids to me. I love the company my two present kitties give me...and now that there is a chill in the air, I especially love how the two will hop up on my bed, and snuggle up with me --I don't know who is doing what...are they keeping me company to keep themselves warm, or are they trying to keep me warm? Doesn't matter, and it doesn't matter that I wind up sleeping like a pretzel..LOL They seem to know my moods, especially if I'm feeling down and will come over to me to cheer me up

Pets are awesome when we're feeling lonely and they are such good company. It's like we're not alone when we have one living with us.

I always have a pet in my family, my father like animals and when i was a child, he always build by his own hands a big cage, filling with lot types of bird and a fish tank in the botton with many kind of fish and 2 turtle. Its not stop there, my mom like cats, so we own one, and i like rabbits too so i have one, then a neighbor have puppy and we addopt one(i remember his name is Howie) And my father add his collection with some chicken. Imagine how preety noisy my home was. lol And now i grow up and live alone here at Bali island,.. i miss that noise, i guest, When i saw a kitten cry in the street being dump, suddenly i felt sorry for him and don't think twice to bring him home. He always waiting for me in the fence every time i came home from work. He was pooring and lovable, just saying he miss me much. All my exousted was dissapears while he doing that. for sure. Yes, i proud when people get to know him and enjoy him as i do.

All of my pets are just like another child for me, this includes my chickens ( I know it's sad) lol! I love animals though and the one thing I love about an animal is the way they love you back.

In my opinion the best thing about having a pet, is the unconditional love you get from them. Your pet loves you for who you are, whatever kind of love and attention you give to it. Your pet gives you the same kind of love too or maybe even more. They don't complain and whine ... just love.

Well im a big animal person. But i guess that comes from growing up on a farm. Im more of a cat person though. I think this is because it comforts me when im upset to hold my cat and play with it. Ive also heard that they can tell when your upset. And the way they purr and rub up against you is just so cute. I Love it! It doesnt really matter to me about other people getting to know my pets. As long as they treat them good.

The best thing about having a pet is that there is always someone there for you. In my case, a warm, loving furry creature. Someone there when the rest of the world seems cold and hard, or uncaring or even mean. Take care

I don't have any pet right now, but I used to have cat when I was a child. And now I am planning to got a dog.The best thing to me is have a company and also I believe animal can feel. Some of dogs are really sensitive and tehy would come to you and sit in your lap.It is so cute.Yeah sure, we have to care about them , but tehy will give you much more back, like you gave them. Also It is a good thing for kids, to teach them to have a responsibility. And I am not talking about things how many times dog protect kids against danger.

I have not had a pet for a few years now. I live in an apartment and am not allowed to have pets. When I was five years old my parents gave me a puppy for my birthday. Tippy and I grew up together. He always seemed to know if I was upset or sick. He would curl up with me and comfort me. I could tell him all my secrets. He was my best friend.

The best thing abt having a pet is that it remains ur best friend for ever not like a human being that breaks promises n ditches ur feeling its better to hav a pet rather than a human best friend.
