I was duped!!

just after my marriage, we were setting up our own home. One day, an old man, a carpet-seller came to our house and told me and others in our area that he dealt with high quality carpets. He had brought some samples with him and also order forms. He told us to choose the designs of our liking and pay $5 in advance. He assured us that the carpet would be sent to us by courier after 15 days.I and many other neighbors of mine filled up the form and paid the required amount. We all felt that he was trustworthy. Each one of us chose one sample and attached to the form and gave it to him. He assured all of us about the ealiest delivery of carpets.
We waited for the carpet to arrive after 15 days. But they never arrived. Although each one of us lost only $5, the fake carpet-seller made a good sum by duping several people.

i am very sorry to know this happened to you.but still you always learn from your mistakes only.its better to get a lesson once than to commit the mistakes repeatedly.and moreover it happens to all of us here.
yeah it happened to me also and from then on i decided not to buy anything from these persons who sell going from house to house.they actually don't have any gaurantee.even they don't give any receipt.did he give you any bill or receipt?thats the mistake you did.otherwise that would have helped to track the person.
in my case i purchaged the thing from the man and he took reasonable money for it.it was a saree that usually costs very high in big markets.so we decided to keep it.but then after one wash it wasn't worth wearing and all our money went to waters.he was a cheat.it wasn't a piece of original work but he just dyed and colored a simple saree that looked gorgeous but we didn't know the fact.
from then on we don't buy things from any sales person even if its tempting or attractive.
