What is the worst place to be in that doesn't have a window?

I don't particularly like being somewhere for a long period of time that doesn't have a view to the outside world, like a window, or a glass door you can see through. Still others hate bathrooms that don't have windows because perhaps they are afraid they will be enclosed in a small space with no way out. I think for me the worst place to be without a window is an automobile. I've been in several vans that only had windows in the front, and I was in the back. It was packed with people, and I felt like the lack of windows was stifling. What would you say the worst place to be without a window is?

For me the worst place without window would be elevator.Since I have been inside and it broke it was very bad feeling. And if somebody don't come escape you, it can be pretty bad for breathing.

Have you been on an elevator that was entirely a window? I mean the floor and the sides and the top were all glass. I think it is cool, but one of my friends hates it.

Oh. Work. Not only is it work, but I work in a building that has no windows. Well I'm two places throughout the day. The first half of my day is spent in the basement. No Windows. The second place is upstairs where their our windows but my office is a room with no windows. You have to go out to the receptionist area to see outside. It sucks basically.

I knew I wouldn't disappoint you. It just seems that if I was in prison I would greatly appreciate any view of life on the outside and if I had now windows it would be very depressing.

My answer would have to be....Anywhere! I am very claustrophobic, and if I can't see outside at all from where I'm at, I start going into a panic. It's that closed in feeling that comes over me, and I hate that feeling with a passion. Thank God I haven't been stuck in an elevator (yet). I would be the one they would haul out in the straight jacket for sure after it was all over with! LOL

I have never seen a van that only had a front window. I am not sure an automobile could be without a window...How would you see to drive? A car without a window would do it for me!

An office with no window! I had one for 18 years and it was nothing but misery! I would never know what the weather was doing and would walk to the nearest door to take a peek out often. When we moved and they asked us what we wanted in our new office, I said a window! Thank goodness I got one :)

one of my bathrooms doesn't have a window and i dont like it. its always dark in there and ive thought before if i got trapped, what would i do? I could find a way to break through the sheet rock and get out into the garage, but who really keeps something in their bathroom to bust down sheet rock? Maybe i should.

Okay, I am clastrophobic, so I would have to say that any closed place without a window is the worst place for me to be. I had rented a room one time in a place where the bathroom had no window. One day, I was cleaning it and I had an Asthma attack. There was no ventilation and the fumes were too much. I told the manager that I needed a window and he basically ignored me. I called the health department and they forced them to put a window in the bathroom. Shortly after that, the entire place was shut down and turned into regular apartments.

I'm glad the guy got into trouble at least. I'd hate to have him for a landlord. Sounds like he would do only work that was absolutely necessary.

When I wrote this question, my first thought was a cubicle in an office. I would get so nauseated if that is what I saw 8 hours a day, just a wall partition.

For me the worst place without a window is a bathroom because i tend to like feel there is lack of air inside... plus the smell can be very bad because there is no ventillation inside... second is a moving vehicle... i tend to get dizzy travelling when i do not see where i am going...

My sister is the same way. She has to see where she is going in a car, or else she'll get pretty sick.

The office at work is a very tiny room. I think it used to be a jail cell and they cut some of it off. The door is at my back when I am in there. I don't think i would like it in front of me either. When i am counting money that isn't even mine, i just want to escape! If the monitor is on, at least I can see what is going on in the store. When it isn't on, well.... I always tell people that when I walk into a place, nothing personal, the first thing i do is look for the other way out.

I think anyplace where I am left waiting. Even when I am standing in line at the grocery store, I always look outside, I guess it is the nature lover in me..:) I can't stand too much time without looking outside, I get real antsy, like a captured animal..

Im thinking the bathroom as well Ambie, but I can see your point about being in the back of a van or something with no windows. That would make me feel a bit claustrophobic! I wouldnt be comfortable. I dont freak out in a bathroom that doesnt have a window, but I think it would be nice if it had one. Where we live now doesnt have a window, but like I said it doesnt bother me too much when Im in there. I worked at this Data Entry company once and they didnt have any windows, but luckily my cubicle was set to where I could lean back and take a look outside from time to time through the front doors. I also think a restaurant that didnt have that many windows would be uncomfortable. When we go out to eat I always like to sit by a window. Ive also seen undergound houses, I DEFINATELY couldnt live in a house like that. I would go mad! They had only a small entranceway and then you would go down some stairs and be in the house. Heck, even basements have windows to them! lol Bay xx

Very true. I've watched tours of underground houses on TV, and I just don't know how they do it.

That's easy, the worst must be on board a ship in an inside cabin, that is something I would hate, especially if it was for several days (or more). I would always have to have an outside cabin, preferably with a big window, not a small porthole. These do cost a lot more, so I don't think I will ever go on an ocean going liner.

I think in a basement. I would be really terrified if I had to stay down there like during a storm and couldn't see what was going on.

The worst place by far (that doesn't have a window) is in an outdoor John (backhouse) in January on a zero night in a blowing snow storm. First off your sitting there with your pants down around your knees and the wind is blowing the snow up the hole and all over your derriere. And your worried about finding your way back to the house thru the fresh snowbanks. The snow has already filled your tracks from your outward trip. Your boots are full of snow, your backside is frozen, and the door is frozen shut.

I've never been in a vehicle with no window. That would suck! I personally don't like bathrooms with out windows. What if the power goes out? My sons' bathroom doesn't have one but it doesn't seem to bother them. A bedroom with no window would be bad too. lol I guess any room with out a window is bad. :)

Hi AmbiePam, very nice question, butthe 1st place I thought about was the restrain room in a mental hospital, that I have seen in movies, you know the room with soft walls where they cannot bounce against? And no, I havent been to any places without windows really, except for a metro station down bellow while waiting there TheFortunes

I think it would be your bedroom because even though your bedroom is your place of solace and sanctuary you still want to be able to see what is out there. With no windows in your room that is really all that it is. A room with a door.
