How much money does the tooth fairy give?

For the first tooth we gave $20, the second and third possibly $5 or $10 but now like 10 teeth later we were down to giving a few dollars a tooth. My son just lost two teeth tonight and my husband (the more generous fairy) wanted to give $10 but I thought $5 was sufficient for both teeth. When I was a kid I was lucky to find some left over change under my pillow - what about you?

When I was a kid I got 25 cents. My kids have always received two dollars (a Toonie here in Canada) per tooth. No different amount for different teeth. My eldest daughter wondered way back when she first started losing her teeth why her friend got $5 for her teeth. I think it's crazy. Even the Toonie is probably a bit extreme, one dollar is sufficient. But I don't give my kids allowance. My money is spent on their sports activities so giving them allowance is not an option.

We don't give our kids allowance either and most of the extra money is spent on sports or extra curricular activities. I'm not quite sure who started the whole tooth fairy thing anyway but I'm not sure if it was ever supposed to escalate to this. Some of my son's friends get $20 a tooth - now that's really crazy!!

WOW what a very giving toothfairy. My husband and I only give $1-$2 per tooth. If they happin to loose 2 at the same time we only increse by $1. Honestly I dont see the point in paying any more than than that.

I always give 50p a tooth which i think is just over a dollar in exchange rates. I did wonder if i should give them more but when my daughter started asking friends to knock out other teeth to get more money, I decided 50p was enough lol. I explained to her that knocking out your teeth isnt going to help you much when you can earn more by doing certain chores around the house. Im just starting to go through it all again with my son who lost his first tooth last week lol. I wouldnt mind but he asked his sister to knock them out and she was going to happily oblige! ugh i can see this turning into a whole new period of fun with my two.

I remember getting $2 for my teeth. I was excited about that! I still have a few years before my daughter starts loosing her teeth, but I think I would probably give around $5 a tooth.
