Ouch! Ever done something really stupid and had an accident!?

OK - this is what happened to me tonight! I was in the kitchen making a cup of tea - my partner was there chatting about his day at work! Suddenly he looks at me in horror and said "What the f*** are you doing!"........... and the reason for his outburst!? Well I had stopped pouring the boiling water from the kettle into the teapot, and was standing there pouring it onto my hand! Now whether it was just tiredness, a bad day at work, the dreaded peri-menopause (I blame a lot of things on that!), the fact I was listening to him and not concentrating, or just the fact that I'm a natural blonde(LOL!), - but I have never done anything so stupid in my life! Luckily the man in my life is not so stupid. He quickly turned on the cold tap, shoved my hand underneath it, and then pushed me into the car and took me to the Hospital, were they told me it was a "bad burn" but I would probably live! So now I have a dressing on my left hand and it hurts:-(( Ouch! So now it's your turn! Have you ever done anything really dangerous out of sheer stupidity or carelessness? What did you do?

yeap it happened when I went cycling with two of my friends in the night. One of them suggested that we just grab on to one another's back to form something like a "link" while one of them cycled. I grabbed onto my friend's bag and started to relax while the first person in the "link" cycled. The moment I stopped cycling, I felt that I was getting slower as I was the last in the chain so there was no "power". A few seconds later I landed hard on the road, head first... Luckily there was no cars at that time and there was no concussion for me. I only got myself a bad headache.

Lots of silly little things...when I was in my early teens, I dropped a curling iron in my lap. I was sitting cross-legged on the floor, in shorts-when I fumbled the darned thing and it went through the top layer of my skin like it was melting butter.(That's exactly what it made me think of, too.)I had to wear my shorts pinned up over that spot for several days cause I couldn't stand to have anything touch it! I had that scar for a long, long time.

oh yeahh... i do a lot of stupid things like that especially when i am cooking... i cook everyday and spend a lot of time in the kitchen after work... i usually forget to use a pot holder to carry a pot from the stove to the table and i just touch the hot pot with my bare hand... after that, i just shout aloud and my hubby ask me what happens... and when i tell him, he just shake his head and say "You did it again..." :-)

Oh dear - it's amazing how we do stuff like this. I guess it's because we all elad such busy lives we get distracted too easily. Thanks for your response

Oh no, you poor thing. I have done something silly like that too. When I was 15 I was asked out by my first boyfriend. I was excited to tell my mum when I got home that I put my hand down on the cooker when I was talking to her and didn't realise for a while that it had been on (it was a ceramic hob). I had blisters on the top of all my fingers.

Good gosh girl! Didn't you feel it when it first hit your hand? You must've been in another world mind wise to not feel it so quickly. Glad to know it wasn't as bad as it could've been. Please do be careful! Well we all have our moments of pausing the brain, I've grabbed a hot pan from the oven over absent mindedness and burned my left hand. Thank God it wasn't bad but it sure as heck hurt and that I'm right handed.

No - I didn't feel it straightaway! I guess I was just too distracted. Sometimes I think we lead such busy lives that our bodies and minds try to do too much at once and these kinds of incidents are the result. And no - it isn't that bad really - I can only type one-handed today, but I am still at work, so must be OK! Thanks for responding.

Oh dear... =( When I was a bit younger, I was hanging out with a friend at my house, I was making some 2 minute noodles...poured the boiling water into the bowl on top of the noodles, went to pick up the bowl got distracted and left my fingers in the boiling water for a minute or two before I even registered that it was scolding me!!! My friend totally freaked out and was asking me if I was ok for hours afterward... I am not naturally blonde (LOL)...so what's my problem?? LOL Hugs for your owie!

Ouch! That sounds painful. Oh tell me about the peri-menopause, I was bad enough before but now I really think my brain has left the building completely somedays. Although it's true it can be a useful excuse for many things. Hmm, what have I done? Well, this one isn't really dangerous - it's just plain stupid, but I stapled my hand once just to see what would happen if I tried to do it. It was a big staple too and it took ages to remove. Blood everywhere and I had a bandage on my hand for two weeks because it wouldn't heal. Of course there was also the embarassment of dealing with the "how did that happen?" questions. Obviously I didn't try it again. The other thing I did which WAS dangerous was I used to listen to my portable stereo (which was plugged into the mains) in the bath with my headphones on. You know for some reason it just never occurred to me it wasn't a sensible thing to do. It was only when my ex came into the bathroom one night and (to quote your partner) said "what the f*** are you doing?" that it dawned on me it wasn't that safe. I had done it for ages too lol! I'm not a natural blonde so I don't even have that excuse!

hmmmm.... where would i start?? there are too many stupid things that I have done that got me on trouble...lol but what I will tell you the most latest thing that happened to me... Ok it goes like this, it was yesterday at school when me and my friends just finished having our lunch and we our on our way back to our rooms. It was a beautiful day outside so we decided to take the way passing to our school grounds. While we were walking I was so immersed on our conversation and we were all laughing that I didnt notice that there is a steel bar on my way. As we were walking I bumped my face on the bar and fell on the ground. It was really embarrassing but sort of funny...lol Now I would really remember to look at where Im going...hehehe

Oh Lord. Which example to state here? Hmmmm? Hahahahaha! Other than burning my fingers recently cleaning my hot plat on the coffee maker while it was still on and hot as hell I don't think I'll reveal any other stupid painful experiences of mine just yet. HAHAHAHA! Hope the hand is okay also. All I had was a couple blisters on my fingers. But it sure made typing harder than normal for me. I ran it under cold water then applied some vasoline to the blisters. Popped them after a days time. All better now. HAHAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Oh where do I start..... Well I will list few but first DONT POP THE BLISTERS or it could get infected very easy. The first thing is this. You know how in the movies (blame the media)when someone steps on a rake and gets hit in the head, well miss smarty pents (hm hm me) decided that it only happens in the movies and it was not real. So I steped on a rake (mind you very hard) and I got hit in the head so bad I was bleading. the second one is it was my cousins wedding day in 2 days and I was a bridesmaid so I was wathing tv (late) so when I finished watching I turned the lights off opened the door to go to my room and then went back to get something, so here I am in the dark trying to find the door so I wacked my self and was all bruises for the wedding (my chin a bit, lips, cheek, eyebrow) lucky we had profesional make up but the lip was still swallen.

Oh my! How awful - both incidents. I must admit I laughed at the rake one though - I bet everyone does! Like you say - you think you only see stuff like that in the movies. Thanks for your answer!

Well, this is not an accident, but it's pretty embarrassing. One time my hubby and I were going to spend a night at his parents' house. When I was at the toilet, apparently they had gone upstairs to prepare the bed. So I joined them a while later and found that they were almost done. Upon seeing me, my hubby shoved a pillow to my hand and told me to change the pillow case. My mother-in-law gave me a pillow case, so I put it on the pillow case right away. A moment later my mother-in-law seemed to be looking for something. What was it that she was looking for? A pillow case. My hubby and I began to help her, but then a few seconds later my hubby took the pillow that I had covered with the pillow case and took the case off. Ta-daaaaaaa!!! Turned out that I hadn't taken off the old pillow case. I'm telling you that I didn't KNOW that it was there 'coz the fabric was so thin and the colour was off white, so I thought it was just a pillow without any pillow case. I LAUGHED uncontrollably and GLADLY my mother-in-law joined in the fun. Oh dear...I can't believe I did such a silly mistake in front of my own mother-in-law!!! YIKES!!! I'll NEVER NEVER forget this!
