We went to Spain on vacation a couple of years ago. It helps to know a bit of basic Spanish, but many people speak or at least understand English.

i think maybe it is really necessary for you to learn some basic words or phrases in Spanish because you might need it to sell your project and maybe some of them might be impressed that you've put even a little effort in learning their language... and it can mean your really interested in these people... and for your GF... it would probably impress her too if you learn her native language because it can mean that you really are interested in her because you even took a little of your time just to learn some spanish words... Yes i think you m,ust have to learn and understand spanish as it is very important that where you are going you should have something knowledge about that language! I am not telling that you must need to be expert in that language! But you atleast need to understand it and impliment it! For better result!

If you are planing on going to another country whose primary language is Spanish for business then yes, I would definitely learn the language if I were you. It would be in your best interest anyway, that way you won't be cheated or lied to with regards to your project. So yes, I would recommend you do.

Hello! First it is actually true that some places in Spain don't speak English. My hubby's ex is a Spanish and his kids are in Spain, they can't speak english pretty well. I was actually shocked that even at school their textbooks are all in Spanish. My stepdaughter even told me that i'm lucky that i've learnt to speak english in an early age. Anyway, if you're going there, it would be nice if you learn some few Spanish words, just the common/basic ones like greetings. They would like it that you know some words, and i'm pretty sure your gf would appreciate it and would be happy that you really exerted and effort to learn spanish. And when you are there, for sure your gf will teach you some words.. Goodluck and have fun in Spain! enjoy! *smile* ciao! c",)

Since this is all about business, I think you could win some favor by showing that you have made the effort to improve your communications with them. Congrats on having your design chosen. Best of luck on this.

it is not necessary for you to learn speaking Spanish. but i think you'd better learn some basic living dialogue. it is helpful for daily living. if i were you, i wanted to learn Spanish. you know it is much easier to learn a new language in the native country.i often think that if i can study English in a native country, then i can speak english fluently in only 1 year, but now i spend over 10 years to learn it, and i can't speak it very well. after all, i have no chance to speak english with others daily. so i hope you can learn Spanish.

Hello rima. Since you can speak English well, I think that if you could spare some time to learn some spoken Spanish, it would be great. It would make the Internet GF feel amazed about your language talent to be able to speak her native language. Besides it is also some kind of pleasure to learn and know more languages if you can. Try your best to see how soon and how well you can learn to speak Spanish with the two months before you pay a visit to Spain. Have fun learning Spanish, rima.

Hello rima0013, I think its a good idea that you learn just the basic spanish. If you can learned really speaking it good then its much better. Since you will be going to Spain also for business I think it will help you knowing at least some spanish. They and your girlfriend will be impress by you. Just think of this. If you learned Spanish or any other language aside from your own its your gain. Its not a lost and you will benefit from it. :-)

Better take basic words as to pay mutual respect to any country that we wanted to go. Like me, I learned the basic polite greeting words of that particular language. At least you go to Spain Embassy for some help from them, I mean to get the write pronounces or vowel. some sort of; 1. How are you? 2. I'm sorry I cannot speak Spanish, but English will do!!!. 3. I'm sorry. I mean the imperative words, only. :::michael:::
