Man sets dog on fire

This horrified me when I first saw it on the local news yesterday. A Montgomery, AL man (and I use the term loosely) chained up, beat with a shovel, and then set his dog on fire, because his parents wouldn't let him use their car! Apparently, he hadn't been watching T.V. lately, and didn't notice another similar case involving, oh, just the starting quarterback for the Falcons, a city just two hours away... Idiot. At any rate, the dog is in good health, better than you would expect, considering he has burns on sixty percent of his body. But the Humane Society is caring for the dog, and offers to help are pouring in from all over. And as the case spreads further in the nationwide news, the odds that the man will remain at large for much longer diminish. I hope they put him in a cage, which is just the least he deserves. The real irony would be if they track him down with police dogs. He'd better hope they don't let K-9 units watch tv.

Bethyboo, this is simply terrible, and it makes me feel sick really. How could human beings be so cruel and dumb? I gfind the act of this guy unforgivable, and think that the right punishment will be to do the same to him what he did to this poor dog, and I mean it - no mercy at all from me in this case TheFortunes

I'd issue 'creative' justice. There are judges who get fed up and dispense such. * A kid who called a cop a 'pig' was made to stand in a town square with a pig and a sign stating 'This is a pig, a policeman is not a pig!' * It would truly be creative justice if this bone head's name got loose on the Net...

That is awful! That poor dog. What a real A**H****!!! People like that don't deserve to have their freedom at all. That is just so cruel! I'm glad that poor dog is okay now! I think it would be really funny if they tracked him down with K9's and he got himself bitten. I'd love to see that! Do you know how someone got to the dog and saved it?

Yeah I am too. It would have been better if it was this really huge guy and he beat the crap out of the guy who started the dog on fire....just a little dream I have lol.

I'm not sure how someone got to the dog and saved it. They never mentioned that in the news story. I'm just glad someone did get to the dog and they are able to provide the care he needs to recover.

I had read this on another site. I hope they put that cruel idiot in jail for the rest of his life. He's obviously very disturbed, and will always be a menace to society. I would never trust a person like that, around any pet or child, or grown up for that matter. It's a shame that poor dog has gone through so much suffering, because of someone, and something so stupid.

Yeah, I don't see how anyone can take out their anger on a defendless animal.

Pretty sick! It sickens me to hear about animals being beat or mistreated, this guy should recieve the punishment as if it were a human that he had tortured like that...animals deserve to be treated more equally than they are..

After reading this, I looked over to my right side and saw my little Yorkshire Terrier staring at me. It made me REALLY ANGRY! But scared at the same time! I'm so glad the dog is getting better and is in good hands now. I wonder if the man even had a slight hesitance...

I cannot believe that a person can do such a thing to a defenseless animal! It makes me so mad that there are people out there who hurt animals so much. It's horrible.

That's so horrible! He beats up a poor defenseless dog JUST because he wasn't lent a car. It's a good thing someone found out about it or else that poor dog will be mistreated again.

that is sometime that i personaly have dealt with before i worked for a humane society in a little town in new mexico and i remember someone who took a blow torch to this poor little dog and with alot of love and treatment he did just fine but the guy got away with it because at the time there was no animal cruelty law.

That is so sad that people do that to innocent animals. The guy did end up getting caught in the case I was talking about and put in jail so thats good news. The dog is also doing much better.

OMG that is disgusting. How could anyone ever do something like that. I hope he gets put into a dogs kennel at the SPCA which is what he deserves and left there to be treated like an animal so that he can see what they live with every day. He should be fed dog food and maybe then he would be nicer to animals. I think he should be charged with animal cruelty and and have to take anger management then maybe he would see you don't take your anger out on anyone but yourself or something you own. GRRRRR people like this really piss me off anyway theres my 2 cents

I don't get it. Why was he angry at the dog? The dog has nothing to do with parents decision (not that he should've taken their anger out on them, but at least it would've made more sense). Can anyone say anger management?

If he could treat an animal that way, I wonder how he treats people? I wouldn't want to be his girlfriend thats for sure.

This is a truly horrid thing for anyone to do to another living thing. And you know, I think it is a sign of deep mental illness. This guy has just shown a tendency to become a serial killer. Also, they say that what a person will do to an animal they will do to a child. This man needs to be stopped now before he does something even worse. I hope they catch him right away and lock him up for the rest of his life.

I think it's horrible what he did...I really don't understand how anyone could do that to their pets we can't even whoop our dog with a newspaper or anything else I couldn't even imagine myself being able to hit a dog with a shovel or anything else....I'd be willing to bet that the man wouldn't like it if soemone tied him up beat him with a shovel and then set him on fire! So why did he feel the need to do it to the dog...what just because he got mad at his parents well why didn't he handle it like a man instead of chaining the dog up where he couldnt get away and then beating him like a coward?
