what kind of flea medication works best on dogs? My dog Piper is a cocker spaniel and we have been battling and battling fleas. I will give her a bath and get them off of her. However when I let her out to go potty she of course gets them right back again. and I HAVE to let her outside to potty of course. lol. But she has ALOT of hair for them to get in and they are driving my poor baby nuts. Help anyone? :=)

I use frontline plus to prevent fleas. However, my boyfriend's sister uses Hartz Flea shampoo for her dogs. I also heard eucalyptus is a natural way to repel fleas. I heard about someone tying eucalyptus leaves on to the dogs collar and using eucalyptus shampoo from Dr. Bronners.

i agree i tried this one before. but kind of expensive. thats why i do it the cheap way. Give your pet a bath in dawn dish-washing liquid the fleas die quickly. Also mix some in a sprayer to spray infested area`s they die to.

My MIL swears by Advantage. Fleas have been really bad here this year and with the humidity Advantage is all that seems to work. Here during the summer you have to apply any flea medication every 3 weeks.

I will be watching the responses on this one a friend of mine as a dog that keeps getting fleas bad and every time she takes him to the vet for something to ease it, it costs her $60 so I hope someone has a secret natural cure or something.

One of my nieces was the top greyhound breeders and trainers in the USA for some time. She told me to use Pinesol cleaner for the fleas on dogs. It will not harm them. For my Chihuahuas I mix some with water and use a spray bottle to apply it.

I have always used FRONTLINE PLUS, it is a bit expensive and needs to be used monthly but well worth it. All indoor and outdoor bedding your dog uses needs to be treated also, there are lots of products on the market you can use for this, from your pet shop. I notice the flea's are more active when the lawn has been mowed too. FRONTLINE PLUS repels the flea's and also repels ticks, I use it avidly in the summer months but not as often in the winter months. Ask your pet shop propriater for some advise.

Like another poster, I use Frontline. It really works. It is supposed to be applied monthly, but if I forget, it lasts even longer than it is supposed to. I've used it on three of dogs so far, including my current two, and it's always been really great for them.
