War is about more than oil...

Blackwater Inc. is a private military company operating out of the United States. They train and deploy troops in various conflicts around the world. Various arms of the company also deal with weapons, training third world nationals and so on. Here are some unsurprising numbers: Over 90% of Blackwater's income comes from government contracts - but that is to be expected, since not many private citizens will want to hire an army. Over 2/3rds of these contracts are no-bid, meaning the government didn't consider alternatives to Blackwater's services. This is not a surprise since Blackwater's chiefs have been involved with the Bush administration and are also known to contribute to Republican campaigns. The main jist of this, I guess, is that the war is about more than oil. Oil companies are not the only ones who stand to gain from a multi-billion dollar war in Iraq.

What does that have to do with oil? Military contractors are used a lot...

It doesn't... My point was that oil is not the only industry to benefit from a war, and that there are other industries (both obvious and hidden) that stand to gain. For example, military contractors, and tied foreign aid. :(
