This happened at a local ELEMENTARY school in my area. A teacher's 11 year old son took a loaded handgun and a box with 50 bullets to school and was showing it off to other students when another teacher saw it. The mother was charged and convicted although she claimed the guns were "not my department" and she couldn't keep track of the firearms in the house any more than she kept track of his tinker-toys. From the time of the incident until her conviction two days ago, a total of 22 months, she had been placed on paid suspension by the school district but after the confiction her status was changed to unpaid and she may lose her teaching certificate. She MAY??? She had to be forcibly taken from the courtroom following her conviction and she was screaming and carrying on like a banshee. This is a small rural district, not some inner-city school. How scary is this, knowing this woman was responsible for teaching our kids? My daughter went to the same school this took place but it was before this woman was a teacher but I have numersous nieces and nephews that have had her. UGH!!! What do you think, is this something no one is going to be able to defend or what? Annie

Sheesh how scary!!! I think she would have had a better chance if she would have just admitted that it was wrong and taken responsibility. Defending her actions and freaking out like that only shows she is not competent to teach children. I"m glad she won't be there anymore!!

And please cross your fingers that she never somehow gets reinstated. Stranger things have happened! She hasn't been sentence yet so I'm not sure if she'll get jail time or not. Annie

Wow, what a loon! Looks like the judge is ordering a psychiatric evaluation for her before her bail hearing. That must have been a sight to see, dragged out of the courtroom screaming and in handcuffs. Wow, I don't think I'd wish that on anyone ..... but there was the one teacher in 5th. grade. Hmmm, I'll have to think about this.

I must admit I had a teacher or two I just might wish that on but I guess that's really not very nice, is it?
