I joined Helium a couple months ago, but I haven't posted anything yet. I started browsing, and I have to admit, I'm a bit overwhelmed. Any advice on where to start? Do they strictly accept non-fiction articles, or do they publish creative nonfiction, essays, short stories? Sorry if I sound dense. I need a little direction. Thanks in advance.

I think you could write anything there (nothing offensive of course). I think you could start by browsing some titles there and see which one you want to write about. Then when you get used to their system, you can initiate your own topics. Just relax and write according to your flow. It's a pretty neat site and sure you will enjoy it there.

Helium accepts all sorts of things. So decide what you are interested in, and then look for the relevant category to post in. If you post a non-fiction article, consider submitting the URL to a social bookmarking site such as Digg or Reddit. You will get a lot more hits that way and will earn more.

They do post fiction/creative writing on Helium. So far I have posted 2 short stories, 1 poem and about...5 or 6 Novel Excerpts. You can just search those (short stories, novel excerpts, poetry) and you will get a ton of different categories you can submit your work too! :) It's great! =D If you do post any articles please send me a link and I would love to read them! Happy Posting! =)

My advice is to just basically start writing. Maybe vote on one of the debates and write an article defending your vote. You can also get a lot of help from the Community forum, with everything from writing exercises to peer review. You can post non-fiction and fiction on Helium. Good luck
