Martha Stewart-love her or hate her

In general, I detest women's magazines because they condescend to women and insult their intelligence. (Does any one really believe in "lose 20 pounds in 10 weeks" an more?) There is one exception, though. I love Martha Stewart Living, because she treats homemaking like an art form and gives it dignity. Her articles are the most thorough and informative I've ever seen, and I save all the issues. She doesn't bore me with celebrity crap and diets. I don't understand why some people hate her.

"Does any one really believe in "lose 20 pounds in 10 weeks" an more? " Sure why not?? Thats actually a very realistic goal not to mention a recommended one (2lbs per week) and I've done it myself.. As for Martha...she drives me absolutely NUTS! I never did like that woman to be honest with you...I just dont care for the way she speaks for starters and she is just beyond boring IMO....I much prefer magazines like BHG for home decorating/homemaking etc etc ideas...

I guess I should have said "lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks." Anyway, none of these diets really work in the long term. I have friends that have lost hundreds of pounds over the years, but they always gain it back again. The only thing that really works is making gradual permanent changes in your eating habits and activity level. But "make gradual changes and lose weight" just doesn't sell as well as "drop 3 dress sizes by Christmas."

Well, I am not a big fans of her, but if there is her shows on television I would not mind to watch it, just to know some tips about living. Just did not do it often since her shows always late in the night here.

I don't read the Martha Stewart magazine but I do read 'Body + Soul' which is also published by her company. This mag demonstrates how to live a more 'natural' and green lifestyle. I used to subscribe to a mag called Organic Living but that stopped publication and then came out as Body + Soul.

I also enjoy reading 'LIVING'... personality has nothing to do with it... its a good magazine for people who care about home maintainance and entertaining. I have several years' worth, and refer back to them frequently. I can always find a good idea!

As much as I think she is a bit cheesy, you have to give the woman credit. She built a multi-billion dollar company from scratch out of selling homemade crafts and pies in the mall. Shes captivated millions of homemakers and women around the globe and fueled a lot of the creativity and style that seems to be otherwise lacking from daily life. Although we all have to admit that some of her 'projects' are a bit far fetched, anyone who is that meticulous about the icing of a cake or the evenness of a snowman's carrot nose must have some sort of unhealthy compulsive need to make things perfect. Did anyone see her on Letterman a while back when Borat was the surprise guest? I'm amazed she stayed so calm even when Borat tried to make romance with her.
