I'm really bad! I just get a thought in my head and go with it whether it's good or bad. I'm not saying I ever think of anything bad like murder or hurting anyone only things that usually aren't good for me. This morning I woke up and just don't feel like going to work and keep thinking things like...well it's only a part time job...well, they don't need me so it doesn't matter if I go in...this pay check will come the same week as my SS so I don't need the money! Then my smart side kicks in with...but I'll lose the job...I could use the extra money which is why I'm working anyway...all I'll do is sit here on my pc all day so I might as well get out of the apartment. I'm also very impulsive with money. I know I can't really afford something but I think of reasons why I need it and how I can afford it. Usually ending up in my giving something up for the new thing. Are you the type who will get a thought in your head and run with it? Do you think of the pro's and con's before you do it? Do you usually end up doing it anyway?

I'm an impulse person but 90% of the time this is a GOOD thing! My biggest weakness is DVD's. I could go in a store and buy 30 dvd's every time. But I can also walk in a store but as long as the impulse doesn't strike I'm good at not buying a thing. Everything I buy is on impulse... Like I bought a new tv this year. I had all intentions to buy a tv no more than $500 dollars. I had the tv I wanted picked out and everything. But... as i'm standing there waiting and waiting and waiting for someone to wait on me (no joke I was there for at least a half hour) I ended up talking myself into really wanting the REAL flat screen as opposed to the fake one. So i bought myself a $1000 dollar tv on impulse. I blame best buy for not waiting on me sooner though. really. it was all their fault. I can talk myself into or out of anything and everything. it's the impulse that decides which I'm going to do though and it usually works in my favor.

My impulsive trait kicks in big time at the grocery store. Even when I have a full belly I just buy and buy because something looks or sounds tasty.

raychill...I probably would have done the same thing and something like that almost happened to me last month. I was waiting to get my pc and saw one of those huge tv's and ALMOST bought it which would have tripled my bill...lol. This was one time I wasn't impulsive and happy about it when I got home. Grandpa Bob.... I am the same way in a grocery store! Even when I make sure I eat before I go so I'm not hungry I always over buy.

I don't think I could be impulsive if I tried. I think everything over before I do it.If I see something I want to buy , I think do I need it? What am i going to use it for? And when I have my answers , then I either get it or not.But sometimes the answer is , get it and you will find a use for it later. But with ideas, I think about my views and when I make up my mind, I rarely change it.

No. Don't change just because you are different than most people. The only reason to change is because your behavior is ruining your life and it didn't sound like that is what is happening. So be impulsive. That way you are true to your nature. Have Fun.

I'm finding more people are like you than me and I'm starting to think I'm going to change my ways. Except for the fact that I called in sick to work this morning...ugh...I just woke up and it starts already!

Hi ctry, I am an out-and-out impulsive person. I would always follow my heart than mind and get extravagant with shopping. This results in regrets on retrospection. But then, I overcome this since its mostly out of material things in life. I would hardly be instinctively impulsive when it comes to emotions and subtle human intricacies.

I think I'm impulsive in all aspects of my life and it comes from my manic depression.

Wouldnt say its an impulsive thing. I used to be like that, alot even. I ended up being categorized as depressive, with the undertag lack of energy. I convinced myself into not going to work, sometimes not visiting friends, let the shopping wait another day and such things. But with my money, I never really was very good at them untill about last year. I got tired of having to spreadsheet my earnings and costs to be able to keep up with the bills, and basicly took 40% of my earnings away from myself. Putting them into a bills account where I cant reach it without a prior notice to the bank. Set a fast stopper to my spendings :D

I'm manic depressive and that's what they and I attribute my impulsiveness too. I give you much cresit for being able to set aside money. That's one thing I am not able to do even when I have the extra money to do it.

That really needs a lot of self-control, and I still have this urge to be compulsive, especially with spending money, and later on, hating myself for wasting on nothing..but everyday's a process, so now, everytime, I have the urge to do something, I take a deep breath and give myself 3 seconds to think if it's okay to do it or not..

hi friend. yes i think the same thing as you think we have both ahve the same track of mind. i usually think the pros and cons before i make a decision and i always consider what is weigher or more to be prioritize sometimes it doesnt really lead to the best or right decision and that's what i hate most. but i sually think what happens to me if ever i make a decision when its bad for me eventhough its more easy to do ill try hard not to do it because i know its not good for me.

Isn't it so hard to do what is not good for us? I don't understand myself sometimes. I do things even when I know it's not good for me.

I'm not really impulsive. I usually consider all the pros and cons UNLESS its something I really want AND I know I can afford to buy it. If I do buy it (whatever it is) I usually sacrifice something else.

It seem like no matter when we buy something we always end up sacrificing somewhere in the end.

I believe it's called acting on impulse, ctry, and, yes, I must admit that I often do this. No matter how I try to talk myself out of doing something that I know could end up with me sacrificing something else, I will usually run with the idea. It's a two-way street; sometimes it works out just fine, other times it's a real bummer. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing-so long as you exert some kind of control over the situation.

lol...we are so much alike I feel like your my soul sister! Most of the time I end up sacrificing and it's a one way street! So it is a bad thing for me.

Hi ctry, I have a tendency to be impulsive when it comes to doing something for someone. If it means that I need to take a couple of days off work to make my grand daughter happy, then I will do it. At that time, it doesn't matter that I need money to pay insurance, rent, or what ever. If she will be happy, then I go to her. I will do without if that is what is needed. Someone needs to go someplace, I will go out of my way to take them. If I'm needed at work so someone else can have time off, then I'm there. My plans at that time don't matter. Happy posting..

That's one area where I will always be impulsive and that's my granddaughter. Actually all of my kids if I think about it. They always come first with me no matter what.
