Ebay item I ordered on Aug 22 has not arrived yet and it makes me mad....

sandisk chip - for cameras
United States

I would like to let others who are fairly new to ordering things from Ebay to check out where the item is being shipped from before ordering. I didn't do that before I ordered a memory chip for my digital camera. After 3 weeks went by and I did not receive the chip I contacted the seller. Come to find out they are located in Hong Kong. I won the bid and it for $1.26 cents but $8.99 for shipping and handling. It is a chip that would normally cost about twenty dollars in the store so I thought I got a great deal! I still have not received the chip and It has been like 34 days now. Has any one else experienced this with items won on Ebay? I feel like canceling the transaction and getting my money back into my paypal account. I have contacted the seller 3 times and their reply was that it is coming from over seas. Even so I think it should not take this long. ANy suggestions on what to do here? Thanks in advance.

After all this time and with poor communication from the seller you should begin a claim with eBay at once. Open an item not received dispute as quickly as possible, you only have a limited amount of time left. Once you have done that, then escalate the dispute to a claim so you can get your money back via PayPal.

I just tried to open a claim with ebay and I got a message saying that because I paid through paypal then that is where I have to file the dispute. So I proceeded to paypal and filed it. Thanks!

well there are some sellers on ebay that dont seem to care about your happiness...i bought a ring a couple of years ago and failed to recieve it, after complaining and giving them negative feedback, i never heard anything, but they still kept my money. since then, i WILL NOT buy anything from overseas! i have had nothing but bad experiences from the sellers over there.

I agree with you about buying from over seas. This is only the 4th item i bought from ebay. The others arrived promptly.

What an awful experience! Is there any tracking number to see where the item is? Is it possible it's stuck in customs? I used to work for a company that would struggle with customs with orders coming from Canada. (That was BEFORE homeland security and all that other delays!) Boy, did that ever stink. The other posters have great advice. File a grievance with paypal, maybe then they can track the item for you and at least find out where it is. Good luck to you!

Overseas shipping definitely can take quite a while, but with that shipping expense, I would say that it should have been sent via airmail. Probably what happened, however, is that the seller charged a high fee for shipping, and then sent it the cheaper way--a lot of sellers on eBay do this. I would say it's time to open the claim with eBay and PayPal, and get your money back. Sure, the chip MIGHT be on its way to you, but you might also never see it.

I ordered once from ebay and it took awhile to get my product that I bought. I had contacted the seller as well. I think mine came from the UK. If you don't get it soon I would contact ebay and they will help you. It's says something on ebay about that, but I don't remember where.

A lot of ebayers use dropshippers so they dont have to handle the merchandise that they are selling. If you bought from a dropshipper he is not going to admit this in his listings. If he is dropshipping his products and the items that he has sold are not in stock at the time of purchase then he will not notify you of this. File a dispute with ebay asap. The longer this goes on the less chance you have of getting your money back.

I had also a bad experience with E bay. Once I ordered for 2 pairs of shirt for my brother on ebay. After 2 weeks when they did not arrived, i enquired about it. After this i started to report it at e bay. They sent me mails telling to close the issue and they will deliver ASAP. But they never did. I felt cheated and have stopped buying from E bay.

You're right! It's very important to check the sellers location to see if there will be any long shipping delays. I would definately suggest contacting paypal to investigate this for you, unless the item specifically stated there would be delays for shipping time. You only have a certain amount of time before you lose that opportunity. ps. I bought the same memory card at BestBuy when we got my MIL a digital camera for Christmas. Luckily they had a sale on it and I only paid $9.95 + tax. Check around for sales at the electronics stores if you decide to cancel your transaction. Most are online & you don't have to drive there to price shop. ;)

I am sorry to here about not receiving the item that you have paid for. There are definitely lots of scammers out there and it's just up to us buyers and even to sellers to prevent ourselves from being a victim of those scams. I have also been scammed before. I paid for an item for about $100 and after that, I never heard from the seller again nor where my item is. I was so sad at that time but it's a lesson for me to always be cautious. Also,it was my fault that I didn't check the seller's profile. All the items he sold was just ebooks, many ebooks.. I thought he was legitimate, but he wasn't. Atleast the amount that you have paid for was not that much,. But still, its really disappointing to be scammed. One setback about your transaction was the distance. The seller is in Hongkong and your from U.S.A. I hope you can resolve your case. Or if not, hopefully you won't be a victim of those scammers anymore. Best of luck to you.

I have learned not to buy anything out of the country. It's a lot easier to deal with if it's from the same country. I would just keep in contact with the seller make sure everything is going ok. And ask lots of questions.
