do i need a passport to go on a cruise to the caribbean

i wanna go on a carnival cruise, with my mom to the caribbean. i have really never been on a vacation...so i don't know anything about traveling laws

Yes you will need a passport to go on a cruise. Anywhere you go outside of the US you will need a passport for.
