Robinson "Rufay" Zapata Montano is the Colombian goalkeeper of FC Steaua Bucharest. He is born in Florida, Colombia, on September the 30th, 1978. Rufay started football at America de Cali, in 1998. He played for this 18 matches for this team between 1998 and 2000. In 2000 he transfered to Real Cartagena, where he played 86 matches in the top Colombian football league. After another period at, America de Cali, Zapata got to Rosario Central, in Argentina. He played for a few teams in Argentina (Independiente Avellaneda, Club Atletico Belgrano, La Serena). but, because he was barely used, Zapata moved to Cucuta Deportivo, where he was first capped for the national Colombian team, at Copa America, playing against the USA. This is where he was spotted by Steaua, which bought him in August 2007.

The funny think about Rufay is that in Greek his name means get, receive, consed, (in a slang way) which would never help him for a keeper career here... Him , shorumnu and Kameni must be the best African keepers ever...

Actually, I'm not talking about Peter Rufai, the famous Nigerian goalkeeper. This goalkeeper's name is Robinson Zapata, and he is Colombian. He is nicknamed "Rufay", as a homage to the Peter Rufai you are mentioning. Thank you for the response, it was one of the discussions I thought I'll never get a response to. This discussion was posted a year ago, on Zapata's birthday!
