Im a girl and I started to watch the UFC last year. Talk about obsession. I will be getting into Muay Thai soon and I was wondering if anyone things there will ever be a girls ufc and if it would be successfully. Of course men are naturally stronger then women BUT I can honestly say ive made my 5'11' 230lb boyfriend hurt so...

I've learned to never underestimate a woman in a fight. While a man may be more powerful, a woman is often more quick flexible & balenced. With proper training power isn't even necessary. I've put grown men of over 300 lbs on the floor with merely a poke, grip or light jab to the right point. Pressure points & jointlocks are great. With womens flexibility they have an advantage when using these. If you look you can already find women in some of the extreme fighting groups. They may not have their own but their still there.

Yeah but you also have an axe and armor...I can hold my own, trust me...but im a little less confident because my boyfriend actually did hit me hard for the first time the other day and it hurt pretty bad. He said that was half way...but that was me being still and him socking me in the upper arm. I know I can get him in a choke hold...and he will tap out every time.

There are no girls in the "ufc" but guess what, the ufc isnt all there is. There are over 100 tournament or group based fighting organizations out there, the ufc is only th most well known, and yes the best fighters. I watched an event in Kansas city not too long ago featuring female fighters and was very impressed, so the opportunity is there, you just have o search it out. good luck with your muay thai training, and dont get discouraged when yor shins start to hurt, (trust me)

As far back as I can remember ive alwways been encouraged when I got hurt...it didnt feel bad to me. I like to get hurt for some reason. But two years ago I was the victim of a crime and I think that triggered a malicious needed to be able to defend myself. Theres a comfort in knowing you could be someone like Chuck Liddell who-if in a fight with a civilian- could be arrested for assualt with a deadly weapon just for using his hands. Weird I know.

I started a similar thread a few months back...I think that would be FABULOUS to have a Womens division in the UFC!! I'd be totally into that! and I love watching Muay Thai (I got really into Fightgirls but they stopped airing it!)....

At first I thought it was way cool that you'd like to get into muay thai and want to see a UFC women's division, but after you repeatedly put your boyfriend into the discussion, it seems to me you have other reasons for wanting to learn how to fight. And then again there's what you admit to be the weird feeling about getting hurt... I'm no expert, but I appreciate martial arts more than just the fighting and hurting, but for the wholistic approach it has in developing someone's personality. I shy away from the tournament-inclined arts like tae kwon do while I'm getting into an aikido class soon. I love UFC not for the fighting or violence but, as one commentator once put it, it's really like a chess match done with bodies. It's a mind game, and I think you have to get your mind fit most of all if you want to accomplish something in martial arts, not just for the sake of hurting or getting hurt.
