In your country, there must be many interesting festivals. In china, spring festival is the most importanted holiday in the last day of the year by chinese traditional calendar. In this day, wherever you work or you travel, you must come back home in time. The whole families sit togerther to eat new-year-eve's dinner such as dumpling and so on.Children are lucky, they can receive red envelope called"hong bao"contains little amount of money with the intention of wishing them lucky.people get out of their houses to shoot off firecrakers,it's exciting and joyful. They also visit their relatives and friends to pay a new year call in the next few days. I really like this comfortable and wonderful holiday which make me relaxed and forget all unpleasant things. I wonder,in your country, which festival is your fovorite???and why you like it??? Thank!!!

Hi, I am from India, that too from South India a State called Kerala. Here our favourite festival is Onam it connected with King Mahabali who was stampped to earth by God Vishnu as per the mythology. After that this festival started in remeberance of this famous king who was for his very helpfull nature to people and society. Durng this festival we all get new clothes we make desings with flowers, have sadya a food in Kerala style. Family members joins together so on.

That's wondeful!new clothes ,flowers delicious sadya,it must be beautiful a day!your festival remind me of our Dragon Boat Festival in memory of our great ancient poet "Qu Yuan" who committed by jumping into a river rather than compromise his honour. There are dragon boat races and rice dumpingswrapped in lotus leaves to eat in this day. Thank for your posting and look forword to talk with you again!

haha...lucky to meet another Chinese here. nice to meet you, LEO. yea, as you described above, spring festival is the most wonderful traditional festival in China. i also quite enjoy it...it was a pity i didnt have the time together with my family this spring festival, hopefully, next year i will go back home to be together with them,hehe...maybe to get a few"hong bao" :) do you notice that recent years, there are some changes about the spring festival, it has been losing the traditional meaning of the festival. i hope no matter how advanced the society will be, the tradition of our festival should be lasting forever...

so nice to meet you here!as you say, there is surely some changes in our spring festival.for example, some families ,they don't eat the new-year-eve dinner in their home but in resturant instead. But I think no matter how advanced the society develop, the custom and tradition will not lose its meaning.because we are chinese,we have the responsibility to keep up all these! It's really a pity to hear that you were not be with your families this spring festival.I hope that you will come back and have a happy spring festival next year.wish you good luck!

I am from India - country of festivals. Here we celebrate lots of festivals. But most famous is Diwali, its our new year celebration. We eat sweets, we do shopping, fun, we wish other relatives and family members a happy new year. Children get 20 days of vacation. Other (service people) get 3-5 days of vacation. In other festival Holi, Uttarayan (kite flying day) are famous.

Well in America there are not only festivals of the country but there are town festivals and state festivals and all sorts of types of festivals. Plus there are music/concert festivals. And pride festivals and .. yeah crazy amounts. Too many to really pick one. I'm a big fan of music though so I used to always enjoy the music festivals. I can't stand crowds though, so I don't participate in festivals much anymore these days.
