I'm 31 & it's embarrasing to say that I just got my driver's license.I didnt see the need coz where I came from there was a lot of public transport to go by.I'm planning to buy a car. We have a van that my hubby uses. There are a lot of great deals for new cars now but I was thinking would it be advisable for me to get a new one since I am not an expert at driving yet? But if I buy a used car,it might cost us more for maintenance, insurance, repair, etc. Please help.

That last comment looks like they were confused themselves and sort of replying to the previous comment which was worded a bit tricky... I agree with the buying of a used one...salesman at dealerships on new vehicles theses days are crooks...a new vehicle will cost more in the long run... As for a used vehicle..you can find one that is not too too old and get great warrenties and such still...and there are also websites where you can check out the car's history beforehand to see where the car has been and if it has ever been in any accidents, ect...so basically you can check and see if the salesman is telling the truth... www.CARFAX.com Good luck and happy driving!

Used. 1) it most likely will cost you far less in maintenance per year than the payments on a brand new one and 2) b/c the moment you drive a new car off of the lot it loses at least a couple of thousand dollars towards it's value

Sometimes we can't afford to get a new one. It depends on weather or not you can afford to. alot of people are leasing cars.

Go buy a used car, 1-3 years old on a lease buy back from a dealer and get warranty with it. Don't buy new once you drive it off the lot the depreciation in the vehical value would make you sick. talking from experience.
