What is your relationship with your PC?And of course with the internet? After all the most PC users they have internet anymore...Do you fell you are addicted or you can live very easy days without it?You use to sit and spend time in front of your PC everyday? I know many people that internet start be them best friend and the sad is the most of them are young people.Even with them friend they contact throw a PC than sit and talk face to face. What is your opinion and your personal experience?

Honestly I could live without it but I wouldn't like it LOL But I still think it can't and shouldn't replace socializing with people face to face. I use the internet for many things, from research,to work to relax and to be in touch with family and friends. WHen I mean being in touch with family and friends I'm talking more about the ones that live to far for us to meet in person. I think things should be taken in perspective and replacing in person interaction with just computer is not good. A balance of both is needed.

Exactly :) But if they are close to me, nothing replaces being with them in person. I try to balance both things as much as I can, but I know that I still spend quite a lot of time on the computer:)

Yes, PC and internet have become part and parcel of my life, since I joined mylot. I do not go for any other site. I enjoy being here on my lot. I use my PC for other purposes also, like listening to music, watching movies and uploading and down-loading photos and videos from my PC. PC has certainly taken an important place in my day to day activities. Have a nice day! Deepak

for me,pc + internet just subcategory in my life.the things that i really addict to are coffee and cigratte.I can live without pc and internet but i can't live without coffee and cigratte. :) i didn't communicate with my friends through pc,because most of them didn't know how to use computer,so handphone is the main tool for us to communicate.

I would no say I was addicted to the internet or my computer but I would feel alittle lost without it. I dont use my computer for chatting or meeting new people from across the world, although myLot is probably as close as I get. I enjoy using my broadband for research and shopping. Of course I should really go out and about to do this but it's the joys of being lazy I suppose.

The amount of time kids spend online is a source of frustration for many parents. Initially, parents welcomed the internet into their homes, believing they were opening up an excting new world of educational opportunities for their children. However, many parents soon realized that, instead of using internet for homework or research, their kids were spending hours instant messaging with friends, playing online games or talking to strangers in chatrooms.

Oh my computor and internet is kind of like a best friend, it is always there when I need it and it never lets me down. As soon as I get up in the morning I turn my pc on and get my coffee and then I am ready to go. I log on to MyLot and see where all my friends are and then out and about with my day and then I spend the rest of the night on the internet and have fun.

I agree with your equation. I feel I am addicted to my PC, but no more than a person would be to television. I watch little or no television. I can't really say for young people. When my daughter IS home, she's 14, she's on the computer maybe 1/3 of the time.

If it's 1/3 of her free time I think is a reasonably good time.

my dear friend as you know I am used to having a pc and spending time with it everyday for professional purposes both as a researcher and a physician. Moreover, I consider the internet a wonderful instrument to get into touch with my friends who live far from me...unfortunately most of my friends are far from me..and how could I read from them and reach them so fast if it were not for the internet??? Imagine...we wouldn't be friends if it were not for the pc..but of course it is a pity and a hazard if a pc becomes a substitute of real life, I mean of the everyday life in which we are asked to confront with other people and their problems and ours..as always, the good thing is make a rationale use of technology...this is the goal, and of course it is difficult to achieve!!!

Hi aidonia. I am addicted to PC since I was 10 years old. Haha. Well, I used to chat with my best friend over Internet but not face to face too. However, there are times it's impossible for we people to actually meet up so Internet is an alternative way to keep us stay contact. I mean, everything has the pros and corns, as long as you know how to differentiate it, then guess it is going to be ok. I mean, I am okay with my situation. Haha.

I spend more time on the computer because of the nature of my job. I am a medical transcriptionist and I spend around 10 to 14 hours in the front of the computer. I get two days as off on the weekends and on those days I spend less than one hour in fron t of the computer. I also think one can get lots of friends through chatting. I also used to chat before on the yahoo chat in the public rooms. I hav emade some good friends with some of the people on the net. I still has around three to five best friends in the net whom I have never met.

I am a writer and I have to be at the internet and use my PC. i fell and broke my wrist, so my writing arm is not as strong and my hand aches when I do hand writing after a time. I would say that in my case, even though I LOVE writing, I do not have internet addiction. On the other hand, I do not have an addictive personality, so those who have internet addiction often are addicted to other things as well.

Hello my friend. Foeme the pc means hard work and earning a living online. I have made good contacts through the internet and am learning how to be financially independent. This is a tool for me to not have to work for anyone else and be my own boss. Also the up side is that I have made some good friends too. So in a way I am hooked, but more out of necsssity than for having fun or gaming. Although I do enjoy my working online.

It most certainly is an addiction with me. The electricians came to our building to start rewiring the electricity as our building is switching to circuit breaker system rather than fuses,..they were to come 7 in the morning today--but that meant our electricity was to be shut off completely!!...so last night before going to bed, I had to switch everything off...I completely shut down my computer, even unplugged it, and unplugged the connections for the DSL modem, printer--everything! I only got my electricity back on about an hour ago...so from 7 in the morning until about 3:30 or so, no electricity! Which meant of course no computer! Sniffle, sniffle...I couldn't check my emails, couldn't come here, couldn't do any of my work...nothing...I rely very much on my computer--in many ways it is my link to the outside world Gee, I wonder what people do when they go on vacation and have no computer access...did you use computer while you were away to Egypt?? If not how did you survive?? LOL

The truth is when I'm here I fell like you without computer...Is the first thing I open at morning and the last thing I close before I go to bed.Even if I'm not much hours in front of my PC it works all the day doing downloads...etc. But when I'm at Egypt I don't know how or why I don't care about it so much.Only I ask to my son *where is now our PC*but just this and more by joking with him and not because I miss it lol:

I have talked to a number of people as well as heard many people say this: That they have become addicted to Personal Computers and especially using the Internet . As for myself personally, I do not feel that i am as yet addicted to the Personal Computers or the Internet . I only use the PC or Internet as much as is required - just for a few hours Weekly .
