Hi rave700! Walking is a good and nice example of exercise. You can start walking any kilometers as long as you can. It is, actually, advisable for most doctors. Walking for 30 minutes is enough already, though you can extend it for how many minutes if you want. Too much walking can also give some problems if it was exaggerated. It can cause muscle cramps and fatigue. Have a nice day and God speed!

Yes thats true..!! Any thing in excess is bad for health even water also..!! YOu should not drink water in excess!! and walking too much will strain your body you will be losing your energy and you will get tierd!! You can even get sick of walking in excess. Ever went to desserts you will find people who walks like hell and looses their life in it just for finding water.

Walking is the best form of exercise as it doesn't put any physical stress on your body parts. For example jogging puts stress and pressure on various parts of your legs as well as your spine. Sure walking should be done in moderation but limiting a max of 30 minutes is unrealistic. If you are going to start walking, start slowly and build up over a period of time. I think walking for an hour is the healthiest. After my father had a heart attack his physiotherapy was to walk for an hour. He kept track of his time and monitored his heart rate. Be sure to bring a water bottle with you to keep you hydrated. I have fibromyalgia. This is a chronic pain, chronic fatigue illness. There are only two forms of exercise that are helpful to this illness - walking and water aerobics. I walk 4 miles in 60 minutes. If I feel pain I slow down until the pain eases up. I don't believe it can harm your muscles if you build up slowly over a period of time - as with any exercise. I know a couple who go walking three times a day for at LEAST half an hour. They pretty much walk all over town. They are an older couple (in their mid to late 60's). Taking it slow and building it up over a period of time is the best way to go. I didn't start walking 4 miles in an hour overnight. It took time.
