Does your cat have a strange "homey" spot in the house?

Mine does. My darling Vixie has now become known to my friends as "bathroom cat". She has her food, water, and bed on one of the cupboard shelves in my bathroom. She used to stay in my bedroom under the bed. Then she moved to my daughter's room...under the bed. And then, a few years ago, she decided that the bathroom was the perfect little home for her. Since I have 7 inside cats, and she is very timid, she does not like being around them. And the other cats have discovered that she can't defend herself very well (no front claws), so they pick on her all the time. The shelf that she's on is up high enough that my lazy furry children don't usually try to jump up and bug her. So...do any of you have pets that live in weird places in your homes? Please share. Hugs to everyone.

LittleBit loves the laundry basket, whether there are clothes in it or not. It's hilarious. She acts like she's playing jungle kitty when she's in it. Prance loves to get in the cubby where the modem tower is and sleep in there, and boy does she get mad when I shoo her out. Talk about attitude! LOL Hope you're doing well too hon. Hugs!

I don't have cats now (the worse thing about apartment living). But I have in the past. And they used to keep changing their "homey" spot. For a month or two it would be my bed, then my spot on the couch, the bath tub. I have always wondered if it is a wild instinct to not stay in the same place too long.

I think that for some cats it's exactly that. And for some, it's just the idea of being able to take over whatever object or spot they want, no matter what we say to them. LOL Thanks hon.

Yep...I have lots of furry babies. I actually have 12 kitties altogether. They're all posted on my profile page. I love when cats sit in a corner or on a chair under a table and think that they are invisible. They look so surprised when we walk up and pet them. It's like "hey, you weren't supposed to know I'm here!" LOL

LOL! How cute! I used to have a long haired calico that would burrow into all my stuffed animals (I had tons of them as a kid) and all I would see was either her head sticking out or her tail. It was hilarious. Thanks hon.

Bandit is our indoor/outdoor cat. He sleeps on one of the dining room chairs whenever he is in the house. It might have something to do with the fact that the bird's cage is hanging in the corner of that room, but he has never tried to eat him so I don't bother him.

Hi sweetie. I just sent you a friend request. That way you can PM me any time if you need help with your kitties. I have 12 cats now. I used to have 21! But a rotten nasty neighbor who didn't like cats trapped several and took them and dropped them off somewhere. Cats are usually pregnant for around 2 1/2 months before they are ready to give birth. Right around the time that mine would be ready her sides would be really full and would bounce a lot when she ran. So keep an eye out for things like that. When your baby is ready to give birth she will probably meow a lot more than usual, and she will be looking for a good place to have the babies. What you might want to do is find a fairly good sized box (one that can fit her and the kittens without them being crammed in together) and set it in a quiet corner. Put something like a soft baby blanket in it to keep the kittens warm, but make sure the fabric is something that their claws won't easily get stuck in (watch mama kitty with different blankets and it will give you a good idea of what to put in the box). Place your kitty in it several times during the day so that she gets used to it, and more than likely when she is ready to give birth she will have the kittens there. Be warned though, she just might decide to jump up in the middle of your bed and have them there in the middle of YOUR blankets instead. That's what my Angel did when she had hers. She might just want to be close to you when she has her babies. Here's a link to a page on PetPlace that has helpful information on cat pregnancies: http://www.petplace.com/cats/pregnancy-in-cats/page1.aspx It should help you a lot. It's a wonderful site with lots of information. And you can email them a question and a licensed veterinarian is there to answer it. But any time you need anything from me, just PM me and I will help you out as much as I can. I'm here for you hon. Take care sweetie.

When she goes up to their faces and starts purring, she's showing her love. Don't fret over her not doing the same to you. She probably hasn't forgotten that you stepped on her and she's holding a bit of a grudge. She'll get over it soon enough. I have a cat, Fluffy, that won't have anything to do with me for weeks if I spank her. She won't speak to me at all. But she eventually comes around and loves on me again. Just give your kitty time. And keep gently petting her to reassure her that you love her. She'll start returning the favor.

Hi Katlady2, That's really something about your Vixie taking up residence in the bathroom. Our Anna Belle loves to hang out in my bedroom, and that's where she can be found for the greater part of the day. She's got several spots there. I have a chest at the bottom of my bed, and she has a kitty bed on it, and she loves to curl up in there. I also have a special blanket on the foot of my bed, just for her, and she'll nap there for hours, at times too. When she feels like 'not being reached,' she climbs behind a table, and gets right up against the rocking chair rungs, and it's hard to get her out of there, if necessary. Take Care.:)

Tigger sleeping on the corn stove - Yes, the fire is on, and the cat is resting there. Silly thing. It's not hot up there, but warm enough to make her feel at home. :)
Funny, I just found a photo of Tigger, my cat in one of her favorite places to sleep in the winter time. (see attached photo) If not on the stove, it always seems to be in a basket of freshly laundered clothes. (always the whites!) Fun discussion!! :)

Most of the time my kitties like to sleep and nestle themselves on THEIR sofa..heaven forbid I sit on it..LOL...The odder places for them to go...Kissy likes to go under my bed too, or she's discovered a nice retreat behind the computer desk...Pyewacket will sometimes hop up and sleep in the kitchen cabinet over the refrigerator...he hasn't lately as I'm still in the middle of my fall cleaning thing and temporarily I dared to put some cookbooks in his spot until I finish cleaning..think he's rather annoyed about that

I have so many cats, and several of them have their own homey place. Oscar likes to eat in the bathroom, coz when he was sick, several years ago, I would feed him in htere away from the others, so he still follows me to the bathroom, for his can of nine lives. He laso likes to sleep on top of my directtv box. My new cat dreamy likes to sleep on the toilet seat, or the sink in my master bathroom, and Sneaker likes to sleep on top of the computer amoire. Boots like to lay inside the computer amoire on my printer. My poor computer.

My Reggie Cat has a few spots he likes. He varies it. For a while, he always slept under my coffee table in the living room. The past couple months he's been sleeping behind the door in my bedroom (it's always open and so he's laying between the open door and the closed closet door) or on the kitchen counter where he peaks out the window. It's cute. I love my little cat. When I go to bed he sleeps in the bedroom with me...or sometimes he'll sleep right outside the door so it's like he's watching me and protecting me. Kitties rule.

Missy loves to burrow under the pile of clean clothes. Hubby calls her "the mole" because of the way she works her way in. All we end up seeing is her fat striped tail sticking out. LOL I hope Simba comes home soon too. He's probably out having a visit with some of his friends, that's all. Let me know if you find out anything. Hugs to you hon.

Cats are always find a spot that contains warm and secure, because they don't like humid or any bothering occasion. My cat once always loved to sleep on my wool blanket, and I caught him on my bed, he didn't care when I approach him. I was mad at first time because the blanket will be full of his furs, but then seeing he always like to sleep upon my blanket. I had my blanket sewn by my mother and made into his wool bed-basket. He loves it, and always sleeps there until now.

A couple of my cats love to sleep on the television too. Especially my Angel. But since it's not very wide at the top, she always manages to fall off of it when she stretches. I've had to rescue her from behind the stand so many times I've lost count. LOL Thanks hon.
