Feeling A Bit Overwhelmed!

I spend quite a lot of time here at MyLot and I love it here...but I have to admit from time to time I'm overwhelmed...I thought by finally having my own computer I would have more time to do things with a computer, rather than the one hour usage at a library the way I did for five years or so--uh,nope...Cause now I only find MORE things to do...I do my photo work, my articles, short stories, articles all on the computer. So from time to time I'm overwhelmed when I do come here...I hope those who have responded to my discussions feel neglected if I don't reply to their responses...I do try to get to each and every one...uh, eventually. Then you should see my email alerts that my friends have started discussions and I really try to reply to them as well...but yeesh...like I said it gets a bit overwhelming..I need 60 hours in a day to do everything! So you feel like me? A bit overwhelmed by trying to catch up on making replies to people who have responded to your discussions and/or try to make a reply to one of your friends discussions? Please tell me I'm not the only one here who feels like this.

I sure do understand Pye. A short while back I posted a discussion on how I felt soooo wonderful b/c I had finally caught up on my discussions in my inbox, but that was then, this is now. Right now I am behind again :) I think it happens to all of us. I started out with a computer several years back, I was the one in the family complaining what on earth do we need a computer for, well these days, I am on here everyday and if I can't get on here for whatever reason, my day is all messed up. I use this thing for so many reasons, mylot is just one of them. So my friend, just take a breather, smile and do what you can with the time you have and just enjoy the day :)

I am fortunate that I am retired and am at home all day so I have lots of time to keep up with all my friends discussions. HAHAHA!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yup--I'm totally addicted to computers in the first place, as I use it for so many reasons...When my electricity was cut off due to the electricians working in the basement for rewiring from 7 in the morning until 3:30 p.m. my whole schedule was shot...I felt I was in limbo

You are not the only one, some days it is just too much, between all have to do in school, and my email... I just seems like I do not have enough hours in a day to do it!

Return in the afternoon for more replying. Then again late at night for a few hours. There are days where I have a few hundred pieces of mail to go through. Uggh!! I tend to feel more overwhelmed though trying to catch up with replying to responses to my own discussions though...I don't want people think I'm ignoring what they have to say.

First you need to take a deep breath, now let it out. Good.Everyone is so busy these days, the key is to make a list, do a few things on the list a day and you will get it all done.I will wait for your responses and it is okay. Everyone is very busy. There are only 24 hours in the day.

LOL--believe it or not I'm FAMOUS for making lists of things to do..and still don't have enough hours to do them all, especially if a project I'm working on takes longer than anticipated

I have to figure out which E-mail I used to sign up. I may have created one just for mylot - being unsure if it was some sortov scam or not. You seem to be pretty on top of your discussions - me I'm so behind. Some days I just spend time going through old discussions - I have soooooooooo many pages and choosing best answer! I definitely feel this too though - you're not alone!

I do feel overwhelmed at times. I go to check my email and it's full of new discussions from my friends! Not that I mind the new discussions of course but it gets a bit overwhelming at times. Especially when I have things I have to get done and when I'm working. I just try to take things one by one :)

Dear Sister, I understand exactly what you mean! I have been ill, and also have had some major family upheaval. In addition there are times that I actually have to do Tupperware business work on my computer and Webkinz games to win things to send to my 6 grandchildren, 3 of my daughters, and 1 of my friends! By the time I am able to get here, I too, am totally overwhelmed and crazy. I have decided to try to just answer posts for awhile. If I were to post, I'm afraid my discussions would be filled with my negativity and no one wants to hear that! ~D

Well, well, pyewacket, I see that I am in good company! For starters, I am basically a person who has to feel motivated. I do my share of slacking off whenever I can get away with it, lol. The thing is that you do develop a sense of loyalty to your friends and others who take the time to respond to your discussions. My conscience will nag me to no end if I don't do right by all of you. The truth is, I had made up my mind to leave myLot not long ago, but my reasons disappeared into thin air when I considered I might be letting all of my friends down. I am in a state of indecision now. I think I had began to feel let down when everyone started leaving to go to another site. After giving it more thought I decided to carry on with business as usual. The only times I won't respond to one of my friends discussions is whn it absolutely does not apply to me. I think you are a great friend!

Thank you worldwise..I think you're a great friend too :) The only discussions of my friends I don't respond to are ones I just can't relate to at all ...like someone talking about habits of a spouse type thing?? Uh, not married so can't relate there..LOL

I hear you Pye, and I have the same problem really, trying to fit answering to discussions between all the rest that i am doing online and it's not easy. Not enough time as you are finding out...hmmm, what could we do really to stretch the day and the available time even more? TheFortunes

I'm beginning to feel the only way to have more time is to sleep a lot less..like maybe and hour or two only? LOL

Don't go this route Pye as you'll get a burn out - been there and done that...plus it will take a very long time to recuperate from a burn out too. It's bad for your beauty, your skin and whatnot too - so do not take less sleep than 6 hours a night, ok my friend? :) TheFortunes

oh yes, I heard that people that sleep less than they need get also fat because of it, so watch it - the line as enough sleep helps stay slimmer :)

Heheh..with you it's your daughter with me it's my cats, especially my KIssy...they must really wonder what the heck their "mom" is doing in front of here for so long. Whenever Kissy feels neglected she hops up on my desk and sits and stares at me, as if to say..Hey pay attention to me! LOL

When it comes to just getting to friends discussions its way tough and I am behind on that. It gets harder though as I help more people and end up with more mylot buds. Do not mistake me, I think its great! I just hope friends can understand if I can't at least see all the threads friends are making (and also responding when its 120% discussions).

Okay, your not the only one who feels like this Pye. Hehe, seriously I do, and Im sure that everyone understands. If I was working and trying to do this, then I would vote for 60hrs in a day, I would need it, but as it stands now, dont wish for more! lol So you see, its overwhelming to me and I really dont have that much on my plate, I can surely understand your situation. No worries from me my friend! Bay xx

Sometimes I'm stumped too when a person makes a response and there really isn't a way to reply to it..so I have to sit for a few minutes to come up with something

There are times when I, myself feel this way. Like you, I try to answer all of my friend's discussion that they have started, which I was capable of doing when first starting here. But now there are so many started, that I just cannot do it with all the other stuff that I must try and accomplish in my day. So now before coming here to MyLot, I go through all the discussion alerts, and place the one's that I know I will be able to answer in a separate folder, until I have gone through all my e-mail. Once that is done, I go through and answer all the discussions I have placed in the folder. I do the same thing, if later in the day I check my e-mail and find more discussion alerts. It has helped some with the overwhelmed feeling. Plus it helps me stick to the schedule I have made for myself, and at the end of the day I can feel I have accomplished something.

I think if I placed my email alerts of friends who started discussions into separate folders I'd feel more overwhelmed when I got back to them...LOL

*hugs* You certainly aren't alone here hun, and despite my best efforts, there are never enough hours in the day to keep up sometimes. I have found that all I can do is do as much as I can and hope that I will eventually catch up

I sometimes do! I don't try & reply to every discussion tho, or even to every response I get. I have a life, an unwed mother to deal with (well, she's a cat but....) and a job & my mother as well as taking the roomie to & from work & then the other cats! And with the fibro I need more sleep than some people.
