Apartment Trick or Treating

Do your kids trick or treat in apartment buildings? When I was a kid I always trick or treated in the local apartment buildings. If there wasn't someone sitting in the front entrance or on the stairs then it was free rein to go right in and knock on doors. It's an easy way to rack up a lot of candy all at once. But last Halloween, I bought a bit of candy expecting at least a trickling of trick-or-treaters to come to my apartment door. I spent the whole evening by myself, watching movies and eating all my own Halloween candy. I was so disappointed because it was my first Halloween in my own place and I had really wanted to hand out candy.

Most apartment places around here put things out on the doors if they are participating in the trick-or-treat, but there weren't many around where I grew up at.

I like to take my kids to the mall these days. I think it's much safer since the candy is coming from reputable businesses. When you just go door to door who knows what you will get. There are a lot of crazies out there these days.

As a parent I have taught my daughter to stay outside of the buildings that she wants treats from, it is safer and she is always within eyesight of me or who ever is taking her that night. I am sure that alot of parents have also taught there children the same thing. Alot of people who want to hand out around here and who live in apartment buildings usually sit outside of there building until they run out of candy with there outside lights on.

well i dont think apartment buildings encourage door to door trick or treating any more as a safety concern. i think most donate candy to the super and they have a large bowl at the front door.
