How Many Children In Your Family?

My Sisters Children - My sister has six children and a step-son.

People generally don't have as many children as they did back in the old days. It is just not heard of. People don't have the time or the money. Unless you are independently wealthy or my sister. While I have no children yet, and my middle sister had four(including triplets), my oldest sister had six kids, and a step-son. That's a lot of kids. There was a point when I was younger, where everytime I came to visit my sister, I was looking into the eyes of a new baby. The thrill of being an auntie wore out pretty quickly. They are all beautiful and love them dearly, but for a while, I thought my sister would never stop having them. With the baby, my sister had gone in to get her tubes tied and found out she was pregnant again. With the exception of the two oldest girls who are two years apart, they are all a year behind each other. So when the last one was born, they tied her tubes before letting her get back home to her husband. My mother only had three girls. How many children did your parents have and how many do you have, and what's the story?

I don't have any kids yet, and my sister is too young. My sister-in-law isn't married yet. I'm the oldest of 5 grandchildren on my moms side, and the oldest of 2 on my dads side. I have a lot of cousins, but not too many close ones. I absolutely can't wait to get pregnant and I know my mom, sister, in-laws, and grandparents are ready for us to have kids. I only want 2 though. I'd like to be an aunt someday, but I think it will be awhile.

Just two? Now you know that you are good for at least 10. Come on, you're a teacher. You love kids, don't be shy, have as many as you can. Just kidding, LOL.

Hi Rosie37, My mother only had myself and my brother who is 2 years younger than me. I have 4 kids, and my brother has 3. He adopted 2 that his wife had from a previous relationship, but I still call them all my niece and nephews.

If your brother adopted them, then they are family. It is very important that you treat them no different than the other, that is good.

Where I lived when I was younger, people still had a lot of kids. They started early: many of my classmates had children before they left high school. It really bothered me actually, because I saw many of these people drop out of school and such. Where I live now, many people have lots of kids because their religion says to. Apostolic Lutherans, I think they're called. The locals call them "Bunners". They tend to have 10 or more children, and they are all blond and blue-eyed. =p I had a half-brother, my mother's son but not my father's. However, my father considered him his son, and he still calls my father "Dad" even though he has met his "biological father" now. However, my half-brother and I didn't always live in the same place, so we're not really that close. I guess when I was a kid it felt like being an only child sometimes, and not at others, especially since I also sometimes had random step-siblings because my mother married and divorced often. I only have one child. I only ever plan on having one child. There are many, many reasons why I make this choice, but I think the main one is health-related. My husband and I both have many health problems, and we don't really want to have to chase more than one child around. Also, I probably wouldn't survive another pregnancy, as I barely made it through the last one.

My parents had 5 under the age of 5 (my poor mom LOL) I guess because they never had tv way back then LOL Three of us were born in the same year, my twin and I in February and my younger brother in December - our ages go like this - 38,37,36,36,35 (soon to be 36 in Dec). I have three brothers (two older and one younger) and a twin sister. I am smack in the middle (and not spoiled or left out either LOL). My younger brother was the sick baby in the family and was born with a hole in his heart so he was babied alot by my parents (understandable). My older brother has two kids, my second oldest brother has 3 kids (one stepson), and my twin has 4 kids (superwoman she is LOL), my younger brother has two kids and I have my one and only son :). So in total I have 11 nieces and nephews.

That was a pretty busy response. Makes me want to go out and get my tubes tied and I have not had any, LOL. You have a big family like mine. I have two sister and they have 10 kids between them. Then, there is my step-nephew and great nephew. My sister has retired from her position as Fertile Murtal. Pretty son the grand children will be coming from her kids and I still don't have one, grrrrrrrr. My two sisters are 12 months apart and I am the baby.

I've got five so I guess I fall in the same category as your sister. Multiples do kinda add to the number quickly. My parents only had 2 but my husband's parents had 6. At least he didn't try to match that. :)

She should have tried for one more. I knew a lady once who had five girls, before getting a boy. But, then again, I don't think that I blame her. I am sorry that you got sick while pregnant, but at least you were able to have one of each.

HI! I think is hard for her to try for one more. Because my parents are poor at that time and they have to give away one of my sister.

There is only one child in my family. My son is three years old. Perhaps I won't have one more child although I hope it will come true. As it's difficult to have one more child here because of the unreasonable law.

Hi Rozie37! We are only three in the family, I am the eldest and have two younger brothers, all two years apart. I don't have kids and I hope I would be blessed with one or two. My paternal grandparents had 9 and my father was the eldest. My maternal grandparents had 3 girls and my mom is the middlechild. My other brother is married and has 3 kids and so I am enjoying being an aunt. We are one big happy family and I love it that way. Take care and have a nice day.

If you don't like watching your nephew, you need to let your sister know.

Oh three of each, like the Brandy Bunch. That is pretty cool. Yours are not that close in age so it is a lot easier. The older ones can help out more with the younger ones and you don't feel as guilty. Your parents just had a girl and a boy? That's perfect, one of each.

I have 3 other siblings. I'm the eldest one. I'm still single so I don't have a kid yet. My younger sister got married 4 years ago and now she's got 2 very cute daughters. My whole family is very much focused on these kids. It is as if my family's life revolves on them. It's so nice to have kids in the house.

It's nice that the entire family can share the kids. It is sad when family members move far away and you only get to see pictures and maybe they visit once a year. Glad you guys are close.

In my family there are 2 girls and 3 boys. I'm the baby. My parents had decided that they were done. My mom ended up having an emergency hysterectomy so she ended up having no choice. I have 2 boys. I had my 1st son and stayed on the pill until he was 11. He has ADHD & Tourette's Syndrome so he was too much of a hand full to even think about another child. I thought I would never want another child! LOL Then I got into a relationship with my soul mate and everything changed. We tried to have another child and I ended up having 2 mc's 6 mos apart. That was aweful so I decided I was content with the 1 I had. We hadn't started using any protection though. A month later I got pregnant with my son who's almost 5 now. I got my tubes tied only to have a hysterectomy a year later due to some major problems. I can gladly say that my life is complete. I don't think I'd have enough patience with more than one little one at a time.

I don't come from a very large family. But...my dad married my step mom almost 30 years ago, and she had 5 kids and he had 3, so maybe I am from a big family after all. I was a middle child, I had an older brother & younger sister who are both deceased now, my mom adopted my sister's baby and raised her, she also adopted her baby and is raising her. Gee, maybe my family is getting bigger each time I type something. Geez. Great discussion, have a great weekend Rozie :)

It sounds like you do have a big family. And with all this adopting, it sounds like your family is full of a lot of love too.
