Changes in Hair?

My hair was beautiful when I was a child(I know this from photos and memory). As many women do, I have inflicted quite a lot of damage on my hair through the years. All of the perms, dyeing, hot combs, blow drying, etc. had really taken a toll on my hair. Over the last few years I have not bothered with a lot of these things I used to do. I have noticed lately that my hair is much healthier looking and the texture has become much like it was when I was very young. Have you abused your hair over the years? Would you stop if you knew your hair would benefit from it?

I had beautiful hair when I was younger. But after I had my first child, I noticed the quality of my hair going down. I haven't abused my hair...no treatments at all..other than a good wash. It's probably the hormones or the water at the place where I stay. I wish I knew how to get back my old healthy hair. I guess I'll have to wait till the kids grow up to figure that out..lol

Sure the health of our hair is important too, but also for me is important how I look.I can have nice healthy, shiny hair but if I on't style them i would feel like a crap.So I style them but also using every week special treatment for my hair and they don't look so bad.I am using straightener and even my hairdresser was surpriced how my hair look after I tell her what everything I am doing with them.but I am using a lot of nture product, like all kinds of masks, treatments, olive oil, conditioners and beofre styling I would use all those sparays for protecting my ahir against the heat.

Until recently I forgot what my natural hair colour was! Like you I have dyed, backcombed, straightened, permed and done various other things to my hair since I was about 14 and i dread to realise the damage I have caused! Like you also I haven't dyed it for over a year now and I am hoping to get it back into decent condition soon! xxx

I think one good quality about me is that I've never fussed over my hair too much...I've never had my hair permed..first of all since my hair is naturally wavy/curly...nor have I had it straightened..though I do straighten it by ...don't laugh..ironing it...And yes, I do dye my hair...uh, in fact I'm "due" but only once a year or so....So I don't have much, or hardly any damage to my hair at all

well my friend from being in the hair profession for over 15 years now,i ahve had almost every color, cut and style there is.but fortunatly i have one great head of hair thats very curly and if i want to blow it straight i can.yes alot of the stuff can cause damage but only if your abusing it like every other week or so.if you do it like once a month it wont harm at all.but yes my texture has changed alot too,my hair got alot coarser and thicker thrugh out the years.hair has a mind of its own.but yes i know some people that totally abused their hair to the max and it shows but now they are taking care of it.hope all is well hon.pattie

i was very happy and proud of my black hair. Now a days some hairs become white moreover i think i am going to get bald in next 10 years time. So now a days i am not plying with hair as i suspect that the 10 year time may reduce to 5 year. Now a days i am also happy with the style and appearance.

I am very lucky with my Hair but I do give it a lot of Treatment and have it trimmed very regular I stopped the Perms though 2 years ago as I got fed up with them lol I did have Perms for 25 Years and then I thought no more I still dye my Hair a couple of shades lighter to what my natural Color is but I treat my Hair twice a week and it keeps it Healthy

You are right a lot of perms and dyeing your hair can cause hair damage. My mother has been a hair stylist for 23 years now so I have heard a lot from her telling me how to treat my hair.

Most definitely have. I use to spiral perm it once a year for 10-12 years and then changed it to getting it relaxed and straightened and that has been going on for about 7 years now. My hair has thinned out a lot from what it use to be (afro and frizzy) and breaks more easily too when I brush it. Always losing hair I am. The thing is if only I had straight hair that didnt' need anything done to it other than just combing it and leaving it as is, then I would be fine with that. Because I don't have that kind of hair, and its afro and frizzy, i have to do things to tame it down and make it look at least decent LOL
