Are you Realistic or Idealistic?

I know many people who always stick to reality and real possibilities when they think about the future and life in general. And then, i know others who always try to think about what could be, about what would be the best...dreams after all. I think that there are advantages and disadvantages in being realistic and idealistic, none of both are perfect. I tend to be idealistic in which refers to personal stuff, but realistic in things like money, work etc. How about you? do you consider yourself realistic or idealistic?

Hmmmmm... I think I am a mix of both. And that doesn't mean that I reached that balance that I talk so much about LOL I think I am an idealist that keeps at least her toes in the ground just in case :) Thinking about it It seems to me that I am basically idealistic, but life has thought me a few lessons - either I wanted to learn them or not :) - and I now I don't loose track of reality often. The fact that I am also someone who is not extremely impulsive might enter the question as well. Because if my idealistic self takes charge, my "have to think about it before acting" kicks in and I then balance what my first impulse is with a more real perspective.

i'm definitely a realistic,my friend.before doing every thing,i always think carefully and repeatly to make sure if this thing will be desirouble or pertinent.as i concerned,it's really not good.some of my friends considered me as a spoilsport.maybe they are right.life without passion is meanless and pale.

I am still very idealistic. No matter how hard life had become for me or how harsh the world as I see it, I can't still help but dream of the ideal and work for it. My idealism would sometimes be ridiculous in certain situations but it is how i feel and I prefer it that way. As they say, that one should learn to compromise and the realist in me, acknowledges that by compromising and learning to accept things as they are. However, it still doesn't change the core that is me - the idealist who still sees the world behind rose colored window panes.

I think I am somewhere in the middle sweetheart! It is good to dream but when you have children to consider and protect you have to be realistic and responsible too. See I do have a practical side! lol xxx

it's good to have a practical side too. If we were only one of the two i think it wouldn't be good at all lol.

Hi LightninStrike! Yes, I do agree with you that both are not perfect. However, i guess I am a combination of both. I tend to be realistic and idealistic at the same time. I set my goals and somehow I know up to where and how I can reach them but sometimes, I get to be dreamy and set my expectations higher. I guess, the dreams inspires me to work harder and efficiently. The ideals and dreams i have keeps me feeling energetic and hopeful as I work on my way in reaching for my stars. Oh, I fail to reach them most of the time and it is alright because I am realistic enough to know that life is really not a bed of roses. Take care and have a nice day.

I think I am like you. Realistic for things that you can't dream up to make things better such as, money. I am idealistic when it comes to things I can control, such as relationships, what kind of job, etc.

If a person has both realistic and idealistic goals, I would say the person can go very far. I happen to have neither in life. I would love to be an idealistic person but I happen to be a practical person. I can be realistic but if the solution is not practical, it serves no purpose to me.

I think that being totally realistic or totally idealistic is equally bad. Balance is the key, thing is that we must find the balance point.

I am idealistic.:) I prefer to think of everything will turn out my way and that by working hard, I'll be able to achieve this. It's not really dreaming, you're doing something to achieve your goal. I'm not saying it's bad to be realistic, but it won't hurt to hope. :)

I have to be honest and tell you I am am both I am natually an idealist who believes in the possibility of if you wnat soemthing bad enough and work hard enough you can achieve it. I temper this with a dose of realism so disappointment doesn't run rampant in my life.

Hello LightninStrike . I think I am more idealistic than realistic. However, my being an idealistic is not to the extreme that I do not consider the reality anymore. I am just a positive person and I believe that things can be worked out no matter how impossible it may seem. When I am deciding and being idealistic, I check that I'm not being really very far from reality.

my gf always say that i have no sense of romantic. so i think i am realistic. i always do something with purpose, and dont what to think or do something useless. of course, we are human beings, we not only need to live, but live meaningfully. so, if we could be a little idealistic, maybe life will be better and more interesting.
