I love the lyrics in my favorite music... thats one of the reasons it is my favorite!LOL! But there have been a few instrumentals that really stand high on my list of favorites, the best one for me being 'Sleepwalk' by Santo and Johnny...

Yeah, lyrics is necessary. I like to listen to not only the beat and tune, but to the meaning of the song. I look at the lyrics especially when i'm listening to rock and rap, and I barely understand what they're saying with my ears alone. But sometimes a listen to classical too, and it's a different experience since you identify the emotions through listening only.

i don't really need to. i listen to classical music, so they don't have lyrics. but when it comes to praise and worship songs, i need lyrics because even the song becomes my prayer.:-) as for pop tunes, i don't need lyrics especially for those i am familiar because i just sing with them, :-)

You're right there, without lyrics we only concentrate on the melody and the music arrangements. The faculty of power from lyrics that make listener get the total affection. Just like raining, without the existence of wind blowing it will be ignored. Music create attention and lyrics generate affection.
