I have recently watched Becoming Jane, the movie about the true life of Jane Austen. I quite enjoyed it. The thing that I liked the most is the fact that they tried to find a connection between many aspects of Jane's life and her novels..I think this is easily happening in a writer's life and indeed in Jane's life who chose never to marry...a triking decision in her time where marriage was the only way left to a woman to gain respect and safeness. There is only one thing that surprised me: they chose an American actress, Anne Hathaway, for a truly English writer. Strange, indeed. Come here and share your opinion with me, please!!!

Well i watched the movie around 2 weeks back and well its not mindblowing or anything but its a real good movie....i mean it is a real story so not much you can do to spice it up....but really good work by the director and the actors....and well after seeing the movie i now know where Jane got the inspiration to write 'Pride and Prejudice'....

the aunt of the man who fell in love for Jane...doesn't she remind you of Lady Catherine de Bourgh??? And of course there is the problem of being a maid with no fortune and a beloved sister...lots to think about.

Looks like you are drawing a lot of refernce between yourself and Jane....well hope you are inspired by her and you are as successful if not more than her in whatever you do...

I'm a big fan of Austen's novels, and this is a movie I'd avoid like the plague. For one thing, it's probably mostly ficticious. And Anne Hathaway, aside from not being English, is such a blah actress that casting her in a major role is enough to keep me away from any movie. If I want the facts about someone's life, I read a book.

Wow, definitely you know what you want..of course this is a movie and they added something to the story for entertainment purposes but Jane's story is quite faithful. Anyway, I prefer books over movies when movies are made from a book!

I have seen previews for the movie on TV but have not seen the movie - I hope to in the future. I am a Jane Austen fan and think over the years I've read nearly all of her novels. As for an American actress playing the part it does seem strange as there are so many wonderful English actresses that they would choice an American.

i loved Anne Hathaway in The devil wears Prada, but it is too weird hearing an American accent when Jane speaks...anyway, the movie is quite good and I think it necessary to see if you love Jane Austen!!!!
