I have been a member of mylot community for about five months. To be frank,I like starting a discussion more than replying to others. But sometimes I feel I am speechless when I sit in front of my laptop which bothers me a lot.On the other hand,a new idea often pops up while I am doing something else.So now I carry a pen and a small notebook wherever I go so I can write it down asap. Then I post it when I have access to internet,it works for me.Does it make sense to you? Thanks for sharing!

Nice idea ;) I was doing something like that before but was my mind instead of the notebook. Seems like you're finding these discussions useful and you are here for enjoyment in the first place. Now I don't have much time but coming here from time to time to add some discussions and answer for the good ones in my opinion.

It makes great sense. But I don't have that many ideas, I'm more of a "give me a subject & let me respond" sortta gal. Not that I haven't started quite a few in the 7 months I've been on mylot. But I mostly talk about my family (cats) and my interests (science fiction.) I don't watch much news (I've got better things to waste my time on) and I sure don't read the paper (got better things to waste my time reading!) But if there weren't people posting discussions for me to respond to, where would I be?

I know exactly what you mean. I prefer to just reply to discussions because there isn't much I really wanna chat about. So I just browse through the site until I find something that I think is interesting.

When I first started writting on mylot, I was a little bit addcited. I was like you, always writting on a paper all the idea that I had for a new discussion. That was only at the beginnijg. Right now I respond more then I start a discussion. So I will have a new topic only once in a while :)

yes, when i joined mylot, i too was more curious to start discussions of my own, but to find a different and interesting topic each time is quite difficult, i too faced similar problems just like you when it comes to start a new discussion, there had been times when i had been speechless. new ideas comes frequently when we are busy in our other daily chores, but unfortunately we are not able to note them down. but that's a great idea to carry a notebook and pen, -------thanks for your valubale piece of advice, hope u do the best on mylot.

Hi monicazhang! Oh, I do have some difficulty in starting or making my own topic discussion. I guess, it is because I can't make up my mind what to write. haha..Your suggestion or idea does make sense and it is highly appreciated. Thanks and take care. have a nice day.

I have been here now for 10 months and I like to post to discussion better then making them, I do get ideals every so offten and make a discussion but I still like to post better.

It does make a lot of sense. I used to do that do when I was still quite active here. Saves a lot of time too. It's even easier when I bring out my Palm -- I write down topics on memo and sync it with the computer at the end of the day and just copy and paste. Does the copy and paste still work? I've been away for a few months and things may have changed. If not, I may start doing that again!

I think its a nice idea which you have adopted..its not possible to start a discussion even for me when i sit in front of the computer all time..hence sometimes i write in my computer notepad and save it and late make changes and post the discussion.. when i get some new ideas i write it in my hand book..

That is indeed a very good idea. i've been thinking about this myself. I am rarely in home now, when school started but i have quite a lot spare time when I'm in the bus so I can write my idea then. Also interfering with the real world is a great inspiration, sitting by the computer all the time sucks your brain xD Hope that will mobilize us all to make some fresh discussions:D

Haha I do the same thing! I have several little notebooks with me just in case I run out and I keep several pens, pencils, and markers too. You never know when something amazing will come to you.

That sounds a good tip really. I am doing it also. if a question or a very good topic comes out of my mind and I am not online, what i do is write it down and just post it as soon as I go online. i always a paper and pen available so anytime and in any place i can jot down my ideas.

you know, i am sitting infront of my laptop thinking the same thing! I feel speechless today while yesterday I was a lot chaty! whats that all about, but i think the idea of carrying a notebook is brilliant. I will give it a go too. thanks for the advice x

Ideas seem to pop to me in the wrong time too... And I'm not good in writing posts, so I rather reply. It fun enough for me to read and reply posts here. Have a nice day~

Sometimes I find inspiration strikes in the strangest places and, like you, I try to make a note when I can. I seem to find topics from every day life and what happens in my life, sometimes serious and sometimes comical.

It is a good idea to write something that pops up when you are doing something and write it down so that it is more convenient when you come online again to post a new discussion. I would like to learn from you on this, but dear monica, I love to respond to discussions more than I post new discussions if I can not find something meaningful to my friends to respond to. hehe. Besides I think that responding is easier than posting a new discussion as always.

You know, monicazhang, I should do that. Do you know how many discussion starters I come up with when I am cleaning the house or out somewhere? I should start writing them down, great idea..

Sure. That's a great Idea. I have started keeping a notebook next to my bed so that when I dream of things that I want to remember vividly in the morning, I'll have them written down.
