Did you know that the heirs of Cicely Mary Barker's estate have put up a lovely website complete with a fairy finder? Now it is easy to find the name of your favorite. Those of us who have always loved the flower fairy children are glad that the beauties this remarkable woman used to draw and paint are now available for everyone to see. The official site has lots of flower fairy information: http://www.flowerfairies.com/UK/start.htm Were the flower fairies a magical part of your childhood? Did you have a favorite or two? Do you have the same favorite now as you did when you were a child or have you changed your mind and chosen a new favorite? If you never saw these before and looked at the page, did you like them? Is it amazing to you that Barker had no training in art and was able to captivate generations of people with her figures? I welcome all comments you may have on this kind of art.

Wow... it is such a cool site... too bad i cannot order the book since they don't take orders from my country... it would have been great gifts for my nieces... and i would have been able to collect my books for my daughter... I hope her books and art can be available in my country...

I bought some bars of soap that had her art embedded in them. I think they were made in China. Also, from time to time they do sell inexpensive little blank book using the flower fairy covers and I've seen calendars as well. Little girls, especially love the flower children.

I am so glad you found the pretty fairie children and I still marvel that this artist was self-taught. If I had not married an art professor, I fear I never would have learned to draw.

Yes I love the Flower Fairies and this site was just beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing it. As a child I don't really remember having the strong fairy beliefs that I have now. It is not that I didn't believe I just don't think I have it much thought. I remember reading Enid Blyton's magical stories and loving every moment of the fantasy she created. How I longed to find my own magic faraway tree or similar... ~ may in every way this be a special day ~

I don't believe I've read anything by Enid Blyton--that will be a new experience. So glad you found my discussion and added your thoughts

Yes it is a wonderful experience, there are magical worlds, enchanted forests, and all types of fairy folk and characters. Even just thinking about it takes me straight back to my childhood, I would read her books endlessly, engrossed in the wonderful world it would take me to. Even now as an adult when the world gets to much for me and I need to escape I find myself heading over to her books.
