was television the best invention of all time? I used to think so, but no longer. In fact, at times I think it is one of the worse inventions. It does bring the world into your living room, but it brings the good and the bad. and we spend soooo much time watching the tv....I say it that way because most of the time people,we can't tell someone what we're watching...the plot, etc. so, goood or bad invention?

Well, like all things it has its good points & its bad ones. One of the good things is that it has rather united the culture of large, diverse countries. Its a whole like easier for a person in rural North Carolina or Georgia to relate to someone from urban Seattle or even New York City. Sadly it also brings in the bad, & so many shows can be devisive with the proliferation of cable. I also know that with the language specific channels, children to watch tv are no longer learning the language of the land - what ever language that may be. And if you don't speak the language, how can you succeed? I wouldn't be able to make it in a Spanish or French speaking country because I don't speak the language & by not learning English in the U.S. you job availablity is also limited.

Like anything else, television must be used in moderation. I think it is a good invention, as it brought new cultures and new ideas to many people that had no idea what the world outside their little corner of the world was like. But again, I say in moderation. There I times I wish we had only 1 tv in our home, we have 3.

I still think the computer is the greatest invention because it can do a lot of things. It is not only for entertainment, but also for work.

Like everything else, tv has its good and bad sides. I think that the computer is the best invention so far, or even more so, the internet. Both have their down sides too. I do not watch tv to speak of. I am on the computer, on the internet, every chance I get. I guess others would say that the electric light was the best invention, because it opened the door to learning for more people, at the end of their day. All of the things I have named can be faulted as well, but I choose the good.

I don't think it was the best invention... I think maybe electricity was maybe and a lot of other things besides TV,but i do enjoy my television and it helps to bring entertainment into your home...I am a TV watcher and i really think it was a good invention ,however there is a lot of bad things on Tv ,and a lot of bad things are walking the streets too...You have to use what God gave you when watching TV,you don't have to watch the bad stuff thats why there is a flipper, you flip the station.I do not watch all that blood and guts stuff..You have to address TV like you address the outside world, you have to shy away from the bad and cling to the good.I did not allow my chilkdren to just watch "whatever" when they were growing up,they knew better..there is a lot of good stuff along with the bad...its all up to you what You choose to watch...

I can't think of a single thing in the world that isn't both GOOD and BAD. Can you? Television. Good and Bad. Internet. Good and Bad. Cars. Good and Bad. The Wheel. Good and Bad (It Pops!). The Bank. Good and Bad. Money. Good and Band. The Microwave. Good and Bad. Medicines. Good (fix things) and Bad (Side Effects). So I couldn't even think of something that was the "Best" invention ever without having some "Bad" behind it. I mean, even Fire has it's bad. Sure it keeps us warm but it also destroys things. Heck... can't even say that LIFE was the best invention. Cause not all people are good!

IMO I think it is a great invention. I can see what is happening all over the world, watch movies without have to go to the movie theater and pay a fortune to get in and pay for gas to get there. I really enjoy my TV and wolld be miserable without it.

every invention has some merits and demertis now its upto us that how we utilize them in posotive sense and negative sense as well so we should not always think the negative part we must think the posotive part as well

I am not sure if it is good or bad. It is just there. I do not watch the television as much as I do movies on dvd. I do not like commercials. However, I do like getting the weather and traffic reports. This information is good and helps get my family home for dinner on time. So I guess television has its good points and bad. If all you do all day is sit in front of the television you are not getting exercise nor are you exercising your mind. I do think that a little television is ok though. My daughter prefers movies to television as well. She also rather sit and put a puzzle together than watch television. Too much of a good thing can be bad. Television should be for entertainment not a baby sitter or a way to pass time. When you have other things to do do them. Do not plan your day around the television that is a bad thing.

I think that the internet is a very good invention, but Id hardly say its the best. Way from it even. TV was one of the best, but since they became so crazily aware of the income that got ruined just as internet did. Cars? Nah I honestly think the best invention we have had must be central heating. Its for the benefit of all, and only frustrations is when it doesnt work...

I love television in moderation. I can always tell the plot of shows/movies I watch. But I totally know what you mean. I think the wheel was man's greatest invention. Fire is a running second - although that's more a discovery. From transportation to toys and clocks, even some industries. The wheel has brought us far.

I don't think it is one of the worst things invented. My mom and I actually watch tv together and talk about what we watched and stuff so it does give us some quality time. Especially because we like a lot of the same shows.

I think the best invention is the Internet. I like it much more than TV and it's so powerful.

I think it was a good invention but these days too many people just plonk themselves down in front of it. A bit of thought about what is on and being a discerning viewer helps. Personally I think that Tivo was one of the best inventions ever.

This is a hard thing. The best is the internet and the computer and the camera and the DVd player and DVd discs, High Definition Tv, the washer and drier, the car, airplanes, etc. So not one of the inventions is the best or the worse. It depends on how you use it. I find it hard to make up my mind, so sorry, I can't help you.

Hi bgerig! I think the best invention that I could think of right now is the lightbulb! It may be simple to see it right now but if not because of this simple light bulb, there will be no light. haha..Take care and have a nice day.

I don't think it is the best invetion.maybe it was long time ago, but I think the better is internet and computer.I mean let's see how much we can do on the internet.we can watch tv, educate, earn money, keep in touch with friends, listen radion and so much more.I think we weren't even expecting to do so much here and now were are surpriced what everything we can do online. To me it is even better to watch tv on the internet, becuase I can do it, when I feel like and not when I have to, beucase is on tv.But anyway I don't spend too much time watching tv and if somebody does , that is really up to him.

I think television was the greatest invention of it's era. But like radio and Vaudeville, the progression of society makes them become obsolete. One day the internet too will be replaced by a new, more encompassing technology. I'm pulling for telepathy myself (no more $49.95/month!) I do believe that ultimately we will reach the so called nervona (sp?)as a species and that will be the final frontier of our communication/entertainment journey. After all, we are all connected to everything in the universe(s) because carbon is everywhere and therefore we are already communicating with everything (because we are made up of carbon). But we just haven't learned the language of translation to every form of being that exists (TV being the translation of how to get this production here in the studio visually to people outside the studio, radio audibly). Spacey (no pun), I know, but I truly believe that this is where we are headed.
