The BAD news is, "Foreign investors flee US securities" You can read more about this here: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/1ed4bb86-7bf8-11dc-be7e-0000779fd2ac.html The GOOD news is, "Stock Prices to become reasonable again!" I believe the linked article makes a dramatic case that the USA needs to become fiscally responsible again immediately. Not after the next election, but NOW! Still, I have not heard any candidate either dumbocrat or retardican advocating balancing the budget or paying down the national debt. What's your opinion?

I have held the same belief for many years. There seems to be no intention of paying down the debt by either party... they seem to be content to just "put it on the bill'. The trouble is that there are no real conservatives in power, those neocons are not conservatives, but they are totally liberal either... I'm not sure what they are. As long as the main focus is expending social programs and raising taxes, instead of cutting spending and sending any surplus to the debt, then America will only become more insolvent than it already is.

Yes, and where that road goes, anyone can see by reading about Zimbahbwa today. Their inflation rate just passed 9000% / year. There is widespread famine. The economy is in ruins. True, we are a long ways from being that bad off, but we are headed down that road. Check my posted threads. I did one on Zimbahbwa today.

9000% ? It would take a WHOLE lot of Reaganomics to clear that up. He only had to deal with double digit inflation as I recall. The interest rates went way down as a result too.

Zimbabwa has slid so far down into the gutter that it is going to take a revolution to straighten it out. Decisions are totally made on the basis of perceived "fairness" instead of logic. I still remember watching the tv news when Zim started taking land away from productive white farmers. A reporter was at the airport interviewing Africans who were leaving the country. One that was interviewed was a 22 year old black woman who had just graduated from college. The reporter was surprised and disappointed such a person would desert the country. Said the young woman,"Mugabe is going to cause a famine by taking the land away from the people who feed the country!" That was one smart young lady who really learned something when she went to college.
