The Evils of Religion

Everyone loves to talk about the merits of their own religion, but no one seem to like to talk about the problems. But then it's nature to hide your weaknesses isn't it? After all, if a religion isn't PERFECT, it has to be WRONG right? Somehow that doesn't sit very well with me. As much as any religion claims to be divine, it is still made up of very flawed humans. Humans make mistakes, last I checked, we're allowed too. In my own religion paganism for example, we have too many *censored* heads on an ego trip. A popular joke is holding a pagan priestess sports meet. The last priestess to be standing after putting one all her pagan jewellery and ego toys wins. That is not to say that religion is bad. We formed religions to share our knowledge, experience and strengths. All that is good. It all comes down when we forget that a religion is for the people, not the divine. Why the heck will something that made EVERYTHING need anything more then your love? I think most parents will feel me on this. May that which you hold divine, be with you always.

its amazing how ppl tend to almost ignore the flaws in their religions...particularly IMO fundimentalist types...its actually a shame really if you think about it...I mean I'm all for being strong in what you believe, I know I am BUT to think its the perfect and only way is really quite arrogant and damaging not only to the believer but also to the religion itself....I dont think its "religion" that is the evil..its the PEOPLE who can't pull their heads out of their butts and take a cold hard look that make it evil IMO

I think every religion should have a denomination designed just to laugh at the religion itself. It makes people stop and remember what they truly believe in. Some wise folks taught me that if you can't laugh at yourself, something is very wrong. They were right :)

As the famous adage goes, religion is opium for the people. Well, personally, I do believe that it really is opium for the masses. Some people tend to regard their religion as the best and goes as far as persuading others to join . That for me makes this thing evil. Why? Because religion is something one wants (whether to have or not)and not something that should be followed just because its in one's family or to fit in a group. If we go back to the yester- years, religion or making people believe in one religion, was the primary reason why some innocent lives where taken. What a waste indeed!

Right you are my friend. It is a waste of time to fight over religion, if who goes to heaven and goes to hell, who has the powerful and all those crap. Religion divides people while relationship to God unite us as one. If religious people truly believe and pray to their God then I believe they must stop criticizing and make war to other nation for the sake of getting them to believe to their God. Why can't we have respect, love and be human instead

God laid down the Christian religion in the New Testament. God wants all men to be saved and to come into a full knowledge of the truth. God wants also His children on earth to have abundance on earth and they would have if the obey Him.

Every religion has a few bad elements. The basic idea of a religion was to make people god fearing and in the process lead a good life. But it is not working and as the day passes by the world is getting worse and people are killing each other and destroying themselves in the name of religion. It is infact man who created religions and he is not following its principles. Devilish desires and decisions arise from this. So its the devotees who are supposed to keep the religion pure at heart. But what they do today is confess and sin and confess again. Man is being a rebel as time passes. He cant be tamed. And god is becoming a distant vision.

I think the problem of religion is in categorizing people into subdivisions.. and they really have much more conflicts and sorrows with each other than that of understanding.. Religion is Dogma and it does care about humans less than that of Divine guy sitting and telling people how to be and what to do. i think the problem here lies in overestimation of these kinda divines very much.. and these all religions they have one thing in common saying that humans are the servers or kinda slaves of the divine that I hate most of all.. why the heck then you need that? :-) if that divine does not care about you :-)
