Windows Media Player Question

Hi guys trying to watch a dvd i bought on my laptop, or any dvd for example! i use to have nero but deleted it by accident so was trying to watch dvd with windows media player, i can get the film to play and the sound affect volumes perfect but the speaking volume of people is really really low cant hear what they say. i.e. the dialoge... one mate suggested i was missing a codec code so i download the file he suggested but made no difference. any one else got any suggestions? its really annoying me Thanks

dragon, Most probably you were watching a DVD with 5.1 channel audio on a stereo laptop. Generally the 5.1 channel audio will be downmixed to 2 channel stereo in such cases, and the speech which is on the central channel will get lower priority. You can try to change the AC3 mixer settings, if you have one installed. alternatively you can also try to increase the mid range ( 500Hz to 2 KHz) in the graphic equalizer. You can try installing AC3 Filter and adjusting the mixing and gain settings for the channels.
