Side effects of Metformin

October 19, 2007 10:50am CST
Does anyone else have really bad diarrhea within 1-2 hours of taking your dosage of Metformin? If so, have you found any way to relieve this side effect, does it ease up on its own, or should I talk to my doctor about it? I don't even want to take it.

My hubby takes metformin and never had that problem. You might want to call your doctor and let him no. Diarrhea is not a good thing to have, Does this happen to you every time you take the metformin? Maybe your body has to get use to it. good luck

Gallstones have an effect on around 10 % of grownups over 45. They start to occur in just about 25 per-cent of females in the U . s .. Roughly twenty percent of adult men have got gall stones by the time they reach seventy five years. Due to the fact almost all instances are generally asymptomatic, however, those percentage rates may perhaps underestimate the illness in aged men. Gallstone diseases is fairly unusual in children. Women of all ages are almost certainly at greater risk given that the feminine hormonal agent estrogen influences the liver to get rid of far more cholesterol from circulation and then move this into your bile. Women of childbirth time might want to opt for contraceptive having small estrogen degree to reduce their own danger.http://www.thegallbladdersymptoms.org/

Gall stones affect roughly 10 pct of grown ups around forty. They appear in virtually twenty-five per-cent of women throughout the Usa. Around twenty per-cent of adult men currently have gall stones as soon as they get to 75 years. For the reason that a lot of instances are generally asymptomatic, nonetheless, all these percentage rates may possibly ignore the illness for seniors males. Gallstone disease is somewhat rare in kids. Women tend to be almost certainly at improved risk for the reason that female bodily hormone oestrogen encourages your liver to get rid of far more fat from circulation and thus divert it in to the bile. Ladies of childbearing age may possibly need to opt for birth control having low estrogen levels to eliminate their own chance. read more: http://www.thegallbladdersymptoms.org/

I am taking those and it's normal to feel diarrhea within those hours (provided that you won't have stomach aches). It usually happens if I eat fatty or oily food. My mom and partner also takes those and they have the same feeling. I actually like taking it because it keeps my intestines clean because of regular cycles instead of having constipation. You just need to make sure that you avoid overly fatty and oily food because it will take it out.

Yes! Metformin really makes my stomach upset too but the only thing I've tried for the diarrhea is Pepto Bismol and that does help but it really doesn't get rid of it completely. I really hate metformin but I am losing weight on it so I'm trying to stick with it.

usually, when the doctor let you start on metformin, the doctor have gradually increase the frequency. if the metformin is for 3x a day. then for the first week, take 1 tab for 7days, then 2 tabs for the following week. and then 3tabs. to gradually increase the dose will lessen the bad diarrhea. the body needs time to adjust with the medicine.

I took Metformin for about 2 months and it made my life a misery. I had such bad diarrhea which lasted for hours after taking the metformin that I could not even leave the house. I spoke to my doctor and she gave me pills which were supposed to help with the side effects, unfortunately they didn't so I took myself off the Metformin

Metformin really has the side effect of diarrhea and even gas. It is very important for you to ask your doctor about this side effect because he/she can always change to other oral hypoglycemic agents which will be much better for you. Diarrhea can become worse and may even lead to dehydration. So be careful
