boating - pleasure in the sea

One of my favorite pleasures. Boating, the ocean. It's wonderfull. Does anyone practice boating, or has one? If you do, how do you enjoy cruising in your boat. Where or what islands have you visit? Have you been to the Caribbean Islands? Let me know about your experience.

Seeing my one big fear is the ocean your not likely to ever see me out there on anything smaller than a small city. I can handle fresh water just fine, it's salt water that bothers me. Moreso in the fact that there are things out there that could just SWALLOW me. On a lake I know I can at least swim to the nearest shore. The ocean, good bloody luck. Not to mention there's the whole GULP factor. At least on land I know I've got as good a chance as any animal & at least he'll know he earned his meal. Out there its just GULP Gone, you'd never even see it coming.

I did have a boat, a 31 foot catamaran which I built myself. I've now sold it though and I have no boat now. I dreamed of sailing to the Caribbean, but it never proved possible.. :-(
