Free Cycle is a way to recycle that is more person to person. If I don't want something,I can post it and someone who wants it sees it and contacts me. Then we arrange for it to be picked up or dropped off. Anyway, it seems to be very cool. Lots of baby stuff in my area right now. Wish I had joined and they had that stuff before the last baby shower I went to. Most of the stuff is new and unused stuff left-over from when someone had a baby. Other stuff, exercise equipment. So far, that's been most of it and a lawn mower. So how many of you belong to a free cycle or free cycle-like group? Have you offered something? Have you requested something? What is the neatest thing you ever received, offered, or saw listed? How long have you been part of online recycling like this? I just started and it seems really cool. Take care

Freecycle is great. I've belonged to the local one for quite awhile now and got rid of some things I didn't want. I haven't received anything yet, but will one of these days. I think the idea is one of the best things to come of the internet.

I belong to the freecycle in our area also. A lady took it one step further and created a sales group, similar to freecycle. The rule is you must buy something before you can sell something, and it must be in good condition. I have used the free cycle a couple of times. Like you it seems it is mostly baby stuff, exercise stuff and also dressers, well here anyway. Seems a lot of people buy a dresser or get a dresser and then get a different one and can't sell it so free-cycle the first. I got a lot of calendars and magazines for Cub Scouts once by asking freecyclers. I gave an exercise bike once and received a complete futon set. It is great and like you I wish I had known of it sooner, like when we were consolidating our home with my in-laws estate. Wow! so much good stuff had to go to SA or DAV to be sold or thrown away. I would have much preferred to give it away.

I love freecycle! I use it to get rid of tons of stuff that we don't want, but I have also gotten some great items from them. This past winter, I got a free pingpong table from freecycle. It was awesome. We cleaned it up, bought a new net and paddles and gave it to the kids for Christmas from Santa! It was their favorite present and it was free!!
