Do you prefer hardwood, carpet, or tile?

So far I've lived in houses with all three. My mom's house in Florida has tile throughout the house except for the bedrooms. This is really good for her because she has lots of pets and tile is easy to take care of with pets. We lived in a house 2 years ago that had hardwood floor throughout the entire house. It was a bigger older house so it was well insulated to begin with and the hardwood floors only made it that much colder in the winter. I do love the look of hardwood floors though. They are beautiful when they are taken care of. But when you have your entire house in hardwood it can get pretty exhausting to keep clean. Hardwoods attracts dust like crazy. We have now been living with carpet for the past year. It seems to keep the house a little warmer in the winter time. It's much more comfortable to walk on with your barefeet in the middle of the night. The only thing that worries me about carpet are the allergins that can get trapped. So which do you prefer?

I like hardwood floors, I feel like they are much cleaner than carpet. Now we have carpet and hardwood floors, and I really need to buy a good carpet cleaner cause the carpets look horrible. But my hardwood floor looks great! The only thing that sucks about hardwood floors are babies when they are learning to walk-it is very scary!

I've never lived in a house with tiles that I can think of. We did have a house with the living room in hardwood and man, I loved that hardwood floor. It was somewhat colder in the winter but I just wore slippers. As for carpeting, I like that it's soft to walk on and warmer but I hate that it stains. !!HAPPY EASTER!! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I love the look of hardwood floors, but there is nothing like a nice carpet in the winter to keep the feet a little warmer. I like to walk barefoot in the house so I need the carpet. Tile would be the easiest to clean but I don't like it.

I love hardwood floors. I want them through out my whole house. I would use runners and area rugs. I would want tile in the bathroom though. And not just the floor but the walls too. I like hardwood floors it's durable and it always looks beautiful.

Carpet wins for me hands down. I love how cushiony good quality carpet and padding is. It adds an extra spring to every step. I have tile in the living room and kitchen of my house and it's a pain. The tile is a light color and so is the grout. The light color shows dirt really badly. I also don't like walking on surfaces that hard all day long. My feet and knees end up hurting after awhile of walking on tile. I don't get that when walking on carpet. Wooden floors are nice to look at but I end up scuffing them up too much.

We have all three in the house we live in now. We have tile in the bathrooms, carpet in the bedrooms and the living room, and hardwood in the kitchen and dining room. We have carpet in the basement, but we don't have it down permanently. We are only using it until next summer. Then we are going to tile it most likely. The carpet is nice because it's warmer, but we have two dogs and a cat in the house. It has to be cleaned more and takes longer to clean than hardwood or tile. I like hardwood the best as far as cleaning goes. It's easiest to me. Tile is pretty easy, too, but sometimes it's hard to get it to look clean. The grout just looks dirty a lot of times, and it seems to show dirt faster than hardwood or carpet.

As comfortable and nice the carpeted rooms are I really prefer hardwood floor for most part of the house and tiles for kitchen and bathrooms - as well as entrance -. It's easier to clean and less prone to allergies. It also looks nicer in my opinion. An area rug is ok but that's about it for me. I also lived in houses that were mostly carpet, and I didn't like it too much. THe vacuum alone was getting me crazy LOL

I prefer tile, easier to clean it. I do like hardwood too and it's suitable for a country which has an earthquake problem also, but in tropic island like us using wood also dangerous because they keep heat all the time. I don't like carpet, hard to clean and if I have to use it I only use it for cover some place (not whole place) and with a cute picture in it :D

I don't decide to use carpet because it is not suitable for here. As we have a moist season every year and it is likely to have fleas at that time if we use carpet. Besides, it is not easy to clean the carpet. Right now my home is used the hardwood and I think it is good. The tile is a good choice, too. It is easy to clean.

Solid hardwood furniture, flooring, cabinetry and woodwork offer the potential for many generations of hard use. Their beauty is not skin-deep. They can live with nicks and scratches, are easily repaired and refinished, and their value is lasting.

WE had carpeting but pulled it up because it was really old. Right now we are just using the hardwood underneath and debating whether to refinish it or use laminate flooring. We have three dogs, and I can't believe the amount of dog hair I have to sweep up regularly! I just use the shop-vac on it for now. To think that most of that would stay in the carpet--yuck! I know recarpeting is out of the question! Carpeting does help keep your house warmer, though.

I like carpet or very large rugs down, because it is warmer. I have a son in a wheelchair and they are always getting very dirty. I think when we take the carpet up, we are going to put something else down and then put a large rug down that will also go under the furniture. I like linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom, just because it is easier to clean.

It all depends. I like tile in the kitchen, and hardwood evrywhere else. I run a daycare and carpets are a pain to keep clean. I like hardwood and tile. I just wipe up the mess and mop once a day. Pretty easy.

If I will be given a chance to choose because I still dont have own house then I would prefer tiles. For me its easier to clean and to maintain. I want to spend most of my time with the family so I dont want to spend more time cleaning the house with more time... Yeah you are right hardwood floor is good in the eyes...I like it too...
