Nazanin is FREE

There is a thread elsewhere on myLot concerning an Iranian girl named Nazanin who was sentenced to hang for killing a man while fending off a rape attack. That thread was revealed to be a hoax. Turns out it was not so much "hoax" as " out of date ". There really was a Nazanin. She really was convicted. She really was sentenced to hang for killing her attacker. She really did serve 2 years in jail. There really was a petition effort to set her free. It was successful. The link I posted should not have still been up as the whole thing was over, but it was accurate. Those events did happen. You can begin the search for the real facts here: http://www.helpnazanin.com/ Much more can be learned by putting "nazanin" in any good search engine.

Thank you for bringing us up to date. In your opinion, did the number of folk involved from around the world help or hinder her release?

I checked Nazanin on reading your post and yes, the main incident got over in January this year but I believe that such incidents are never outdated. They continue serving their purpose of opening our eyes to the fact such atrocities are a part of daily life for many across the globe and though we cannot actually force these govts to change themselves, we can take the help of the net and create awareness and indirectly pressurize and do something about it. I am glad I came across your post and I hope our muslim friends on mylot come to know of this inhuman incident and express their solidarity with us on such biasness against girls and women.

Yes, I could not agree with you more.

So it would seem that certain objections to the post I read yesterday were unwarranted as this does occur quite often. I had heard about this practice before in some of these Muslim countries, however it is not often that names can be associated with it. It is good that she is free, however she should never have been accused in the first place.

Indeed, I did fall for something "hook line & sinker" but it was not the link to the orginal story. It was merely out of date. The criticism that the story at the link was disorted, misleading and out right lies was the real misdirection and disinformation.
