Does Anyone Write for Suite101?

United States

I just started writing for suite101.com and like it. I've learned so much on how to write for the web in just a week. I've published two articles so far. Just wondering if there are any fellow suite101 writers out there. You can check out my profile - the articles I have written are in the side column on the right. www.suite101.com/profile.cfm/ashleywoods

No, But I am a member of associated content. I'm not greatly impressed, I didn't make the money I thought I would and the criteria for articals seemed to be elusive and inconsistant. I'd love some info on Suite 101 if you could lay out a few basics here for me though.

I'm a member of AC, and I'm not sure whether I want to start writing for them. I read the forums regularly and it seems as if it's getting harder to make decent upfront money. It's also taking longer for articles to go through the acceptance process. The general opinion is that AC wants people to depend more on bonus view payments.

Associated Content if great if you want quick cash. Suite101 doesn't give upfront payments they pay depending on page views...the pageviews I receive from Suite101 are higher than those on AC. I imagine I'll make more money in the long run from Suite101 but right now it pays about the same as AC. The thing with Suite101 tho is it's a much more structured environment, which I find very helpful in improving my writing skills and discovering my target market. I believe that by writing for them my writing will improve and I'll be more likely to get jobs writing for bigger companies.

Oh, I forgot...just go to www.suite101.com and at the top it says hiring freelance writers. You have to submit previously written articles and all that good stuff. They usually get back to you within a few days to let you know whether or not you are approved.

I just recently heard of them. How is their pay scale or it a per page view process. I like associated content better than any online site that I have written for. I think that I am going to check out your page and articles to see what is going on in your side of the world. I love reading other peoples work. I also have a site that might help you with your writing. It is a working process but can be found at http://writingforus.blogspot.com/ I find writing tips that will help people and I add them to my site so that others can get the help that they need.

It is a per page view pay system...but I get more hits on this website than I do on Associated Content. Suite 101 is pretty picky about what you post...more so than AC. I might not make a lot there...but I've sure learned a lot about writing online. Thanks for your blog - it was very helpful info!

I wrote for Suite101 years ago when they were still paying a set fee. I quit because the format was so restrictive, but I'm thinking about applying again. I wouldn't want to be a feature writer, though. I'd rather have a free choice of what to write, and not so many requirements. Of course, the pay is better if you're a featured writer. I hope you do well there.

Thanks for the comment - I know what you mean about the resrictive format. I'm so use to being creative and a little wacky when I write for Associated Content that I've had to tone it down quite a bit. My articles just don't seem as fun writing for Suite101, but I think it will pay better in the long run.
