Do you IMAGINE the myLotters who have'nt shown their Real Avatars?

The things which we imagine in life, be they living or non-living, are all the ones which are subconsciously known to us as *out of reach* in reality. To simplify more, their probabilities of coming true is almost zero. That's why they are called DREAMS or IMAGINATIONS! You ask your friend - "Does'nt that look terrific if I and Tom cruise walk the ramp together?" Naturally, the immediate response will be something like "Oh! Stop dreaming, honey" or "What an imagination! Thank God, i did'nt happen out to be Tom cruise, i won't have withstood this":p That disparaging response is all because your friend believes in her deeper self that what you stated would not happen ever. We do not have dreams or fantasises about cooking our meals or polishing our shoes - right? Yes, we know those are easily achievable feats, and unfortunately inevitable chores too, our inner-self knows it. I think the same philiosophy or principle or whatever you may call, is applicable to mylotters too. We just have'nt faced each other, but we have gotten close enough as to develop an interest/curiousity to see one another's faces. Since its not possible to see each other as most have not uploaded their real avatars(including myself), the only way to see them is through our powers of imagination. Yet, how many of us do it? I think many of us will be doing. We shall find out now. LOL! So, do you imagine the myLotters who have hidden their real avatars? If so, on what basis do you mainly imagine them? Is it depending upon 1) Their uploaded avatar 2) The facts they say about themselves in their discussions and responses 3) Their username. For eg: someone has a username(imaginary) - sexyhotchick, do you imagine her to be someone sexy, fancying a sexy woman in your mind? 4) Anything else? OR Are you someone who does not imagine anything at all? I think its very unlikely - because, when you think of a person - some image must strike your mind which may not be distinct. Some blurry portrayal must happen - you cannot get a blank screen on your mind while thinking of someone. That's my guess. P.S; I'll give my own opinion in comments, as its already too long. Thank U:-)

The first thing I did after joining myLot was to put up my avatar. I'm proud to be a Yogi. I've been studying, and practising Yoga for 30 years.Yoga stretches and strenghtens, mind and muscles. I take pride in responding without compromise and regardless of rating. Love is all There Is!

Hello ILUVU LOL thats my favorite hobby! the imagining part that is! yes i try to imagine what kind of person some one is depending on how they respond to discussions or the type of discussions they make but i never imagine anything using the user name. and yes i would love to hear your comments on the subject as well :) and i hope i have improved my commas, and full stops and you are able to read this without too much confusion - see thats a clue about what kind of person i am LOL

Interesting, Ano, i did'nt know you love this hobby. Like you, i too don't fantasise anyone on the basis of their username. Their discussions and responses do play a role in my imagination, but not as much as avatar does, provided they do not start extraordinary discussions. Even when it comes to avatars, it does'nt matter much if it is an ordinary one like a flower, scenery, etc. Summarily, i have to say, my each imagination is done on a different basis compared to the other. But as i've noticed, in most of the cases, avatar plays a major role in my imagination. PS: I think you took my comment very personally, ano. I did not say that out of annoyance or with any serious intent, i'm sorry if it hurt you. Anyway, your commas and fullstops have improved, good for you. But two underscores are still missing, find out where:p LOL!

I agree with you in that I can't say I don't imagine anything at all. I feel a bit disassociated with people on the 'net. Yes, I know that the person writing the post is a real person with real feelings, but I often don't think of them as being "real" like the people I have contact in real life. Sometimes, though, I will imagine a person through their writings. I can sometimes detect s*x, race, and religion, and age through the words that they choose.

I have to admit that I can definitely be wrong. I don't remember the last time I looked at your profile, but I guess you would be female in your thirties. But, please don't be offended if you are a young male, ha ha. I would also say that you are educated. Guessing religion is harder and it takes a lot more of reading your discussions to tell you that. OK, I will go look at your profile now and be wrong.

Sometimes I wonder if they are really a man or a woman. There are times when I see a post but a person that represent themselves as a woman but say things in a way a man would or vice versa. I don't really imagine what they look like, just whether or not they are telling the truth about thier gender.

I usually get an image of what I think the person looks like based on a combination of the images they post and the nickname they select. Sometimes when I see a real photo of the individual, I think - no, that's not her! but then I have to remind myself the photo is accurate and my imagination isn't LOL!

It will be such a shock when someone uploads their real avatar and it's completely different from our imagination. I myself have been a victim of such shocks several times. But still i imagine...lol

At first I look at nick and avatar. I nick is something like "Hot_sixteen90" I may be a little prejudice to its user from the start but one or two inteligent replies can change that easily:P Now as for look if I see an avatar it sticks with me :P That's why I may often not to recognize who is posting if he changes avatar xD Avatar can tell you a lot about sense of humor or character of it's user;)

yes, i too believe avatar will matter in imagining the person, but it does'nt tell me much about their sense of humour and about character of its user, sometimes it does and sometimes does not. Afterall, we do not know their real character, the way they carry themselves online can be different from what they are offline.

That avatar is me, and I am a fiction writer who specializes in what has a lot of suspense (will he be able to get out before they find him?) in my novels so m title is what I am. I do have dreams and some of them, I know will not be fulfilled, but I am very honest when it comes to posting my avatar. KI imagine if you post an avatar with "petlover" and a picture of a lady holding a dog, that is what I expect, a lady who loves dogs. So I think that people post their avatar it is them.

So, your imagination is based on the avatars. Nice! Not much stress on your brain, you can easily form an image. LOL! You know what, most part of my imagination too is on the basis of their avatar.

yes i do imagine what my friends here on Mylot look like,i go by their avator name and how they answer, you cannot help but imagine how they look or how they are,its just the way the mind works..I had one of my friends on here sent me her picture, she was a very nice looking lady, blond and looked like she was really nice, she was standing in front of her fridge...The way i came up with my name (slickcut) is because my hubby calls me slick, just a pet name really...Well I am also a cosmetologist by trade , in simple terms hair stylist,i deal in perms ,colors etc....I had dreams of opening my own shop..I was going to call it (SlickCuts) so that how i came up with my name.Trust me i am not slick at all..I am 5'6 1/2 , brown hair mid length, size 10 and just a plain ole gal from Louisana, left there when i was small and my family settled here in Houston Tx, been here ever since ,except for a little while......

Interesting etymology of your name, slick. I wish your slickcuts becomes world famous. Its nice to know that you consider all the factors when you imagine someone, which i don't do everytime.

it may seem that i'm bragging but sexy hot chick and any hot bod for that matter put me off as i feel they don't hv anything to show and here on mylot it is about discssions, what u think and how u think reason behind...... it is as weired as someone on a beauty contest is trying to be intelligent . i go by discussions ,grammar ,emotion or better say the expression and the way it was put i prefer noble and gentle way. i hardly notice the vatar part andeven it is i try to go behind the reason why this pic has been uploaded and trust me unless someone really thinks they are goodlookin they are not going to upload themselves ,as i tried doing it but the moment i uploaded i found myself soo....bad that i immediately took it back, lol and even started duiscussion on it,lol

I only start wondering about people I talk to a lot. I get interested in them and want to know what they really look like. I do base it on names and current avatars, or even just their online personality. I had a friend on here that was shocked when she saw my picture after we had talked for several months. She was used to seeing my old avatar, which was a cartoon character, and said she knew I wouldn't be a cartoon, but that it was odd putting a face to my old avatar. I'm like that too when I finally get to see my MyLot friends.

Hi I-LUV-U.Yes i do try to imagine what they look like. Its hard,i even try to put an imaginary voice to them too.I would really like to know what they look like, ive even thought about asking some friends for a private showing of a picture of them,i guess im a heart to heart person becasue i kind of feel this need to see who the person really is and say "wow!your my friend that ive been talking to all this time,im very happy to finally meet you"smiling:)I would like that.I usually check on their homepage to see,but alot have no pictures and some have not even a picture of them in it for someone to see the real them.Im kind of getting tired of using my imagination for creating a "face".:( Peanutjar:(

No i actually dont imagine those who havent used a pic of themselves as avatar. the reason is, honestly, i doubt if i can find a real friend here. I dont think it is easy to make choices through this mess with the discussions, but i probably am wrong in that. I can see how others have made friends here. I will earn nothing if i imagine someone i dont know at all, so why would I?

hahaha, i have to say i am one of those who rarely imagine what others might look like. they are usally just like their avatars in my imagination. like you are these two cute teddies for me!LOL if i try hard to imagine your face i see there specs as in my opinion you are someone very intelligent and intelligence and specs go together!LOL in my mind, my good friends on mylots are only their avatars or their words. though after reading your discussion i am using a bit more part of my imagination power but results are still very blurry:)

A very interesting post.. I do imagine based on avatar..Mostly i respond to discussions started by my friends and hence based on the way they respond i get a kind of eagerness to know how they look..when any of my friends message me that they have their picture uploaded in their profile..i just take a quick look to see theie photo..its just a curiosity but i dont imagine someone with relevant to their user name whether its of casual or sounds peculiar..

I dont imagine anything when it comes to their avatars. I care about their looks behind their avatar too, as long as they are willing to be a friend of mine and treat me as a good friend too. I dont care whether they are sexy or fat, ugly or beautiful, its still they way they treat their friends in the responses they posts. All I think is maybe its their favorite pics or favorite character as what I think of mine. I love dragon balls that's why son goku respresent me.lol!

Hi dear intresting point sure when u interact with some one, u want to know him/her, want to see him/her, its natural. so u try to imagine a pic after interacting with them, after knowing with them. its in ur mind. as i belive when u take some name an imagine of face comes to ur mind as well i do agree, i some time imagine them but its not as their nick, as u said if some one had nick "sexyhotchick" i wont imagine that stunning blood with perfect figures is there, but i will have pic in mind after having discussion with one, bit realistic not much imaginary; LOL and if get more curious then ask for pic directly, LOL take care Zass
