Wanting to start dating again but afraid

It's been several years since I've been on a date/had a boyfriend. The last two relationships I had didn't end well. The first one cheated on me and lied to my face. The other, which was a long distance one, just stopped talking to me and I have yet to hear from him.
I'm wanting to get back into the dating game again. I'm just afraid of being hurt again and plus I don't know where to start. I don't know anywhere to go to begin looking nor any friends that could hook me up with anyone. (hehehe) I want to start slow and really get to know someone, but I'm truly afraid. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In january this year i joined several dating sites. I met up with a few of these guys before i met my boyfriend (also on a dating site) in April. I think the key is to just take things slowly - don't get intimate too soon ( i didn't, and he still stuck around) otherwise you'll just end up investing emotion in someone who may not have serious intentions towards you. Thanks for your help. Do you know of any free dating sites to join? Right now my budget is really tight. So I can't afford the expensive sites at the moment. I will do my own search as well. Yeah, I will take it slow. I don't want the same thing to happen that happened with my last two relationships.

You're young and I'm sure you will be able to jump right in once you find the right places to start meeting new men and wish you all the luck in the world. I'm 60 and after a 5 year relationship broke up because he "wanted more space"... I've been meeting nothing but the wrong men. It should be easy for you since you're in your 30's just be very careful of the guys you meet these days.

Thanks for the encouragement. I know what you mean about meeting the wrong men. The two relationships I had I thought I had met the one. But look at where I am now. Guess I'll just have to take that first step and get back out there.
