is it true that virus could destroy hardware?

Do you think virus could destroy hardware?All i know is it could only destroy software but when i ask a technician why when format my pc theres something wrong between the board and hard disk, and he told me that its because of the virus.And i have to buy another one. Do you believe in him?

thanks for sharing me that link it really helps me.As of this days im troubleshooting the computers of our company,i format it because a lot of virus infected some softwares and files situated at drive d but you know some of the hard disk cannot be formatted some may interrupt the formatting without a valid cause, and i woder why it happen thats why im posting this discussion. So thanks happy posting

yes i believe so. although it has not happened to me thanks.. virus can either affect your software or hardware.. it can damage the boot sector of your hard drive will can make it unusable.. in that case, it is cost effective to invest in a good anti-virus software such as eset nod32 ss..

Did you hear this thing called Chernobyl? It was on late 90's some called it a virus and it would actually destroy the hardware part specifically the BIOS then some claimed it also damaged their hard disk, I was one of the victims it really crashed the BIOS and as expected PC will never boot up even though

I have never heard of a virus that destroys hardware, But i`m assuming since thre are like so many viruses coming out everyday there could be one that destroys hardware but it would be hard to get infected with.

i don't think that it will destroy the hardware. but it will affect the programs of the computer. i am not really a comupter wizard i really don't know.this is just my gues.

Yes some of virus are make computer hardware Destory and some virus are destroy the software and make our pc very slow and damage all files in our computer so it best think we want to is want to buy one antivirus to make our pc safe and secure.
