My mother tounge is not English, but I enjoy in writing what I'm thinking in English although sometimes I don't care if my grammar or spelling are correct or not LOL, I only think that people should be understand me, because I'm using a simple vocabularies. But some of them seems that it's an obstacle to them to write because of English language, so they are seldom to posts or get active here. For mylotters who are not using English as your mother toungue, is that really hard for somebody who join mylot using English language is one of the reason they don't want to write and chat here ?

I remember when the first time I joined to an english forum. I always include " .. sorry about my english" on my every posting. (many non-english tongues doing this) but I am very grateful to my english friends on that forum, they always said " .. don't worry about your english .. your english is good .. I understand .. etc" Yup! they encouraged me to speak (err .. write?) english, they respect me .. I respect them! So now I do not see english as a big problem to communicate ... But of course I realize my english still need improvement (still got - miss-spelled, miss-typo and very freaking confused grammar) ... hahaha! ---------- "speak english? Oh little little sih I can .. " - Indonesian english Translation in real english " I can speak english a little ... "

Your English is very good and your attitude is excellent. Keep up the good work. I so admire those of you who strive with your English. I have found it difficult to learn another language.

You got to practice to get better, so I think it would be a shame if people choose to not post and chat cause their English is not the best. I learned English in school, it's my 3rd language and I know it would not be this good if I hadn't been online chatting and posting on message boards and sites like this for years.

Yes language is the main obstacle for those who can not write in English. But as concerned my self, I am not well English writer. English is not my native language. But being an important language, it is only medium to express yourself on world wide. So I treied my best to express myself in English and I got many destinations of many successes. I was appreciated the community at mylot and it is pride for me that I have completed more than 500 post. Now I can work off the line and can copy and past my written material here on mylot. You have also above 500 post. It is a chance for you to write off the line. Correct your sentences before going on line to post them. You would enjoy it well, and you will see that you are improving your self writing in English. This my experience which I shared here for those who are not good in English like me. Wish you best of luck femimi.

I THINK TO some due to the fact that they can't write accurately they think it's a shame to post a discussion on mylot which i think is a wrong perception. if you can express the idea for others to understand, that's the best. getting the point out for others to understand you is one that is of vitality.

After joining mylot, My English language has become very much improved. As an indian, i too learned English at school, college. English is not my mother tongue. Mine is Kannada.. But to communicate globally, everyone should learn the English language. It will be developed easily by participating these kind of discussions, or joining to forums and replying to posts.

It probably is what deters people. If they are hard to understand, no-one will respond and they won't get anywhere. There are lots of us English speakers who are willing to help. My suggestion is to check your spelling and grammer because otherwise, you will form bad habits. I think too, if you have the opportunity to hear how English is spoken, you should read over what you have written to see if it sounds right. If it's incorrect, fix it. I have tried to understand some posts but some just don't make any sense.

Certainly, it does take awhile to understand or communicate in any language. Being a native English speaker myself, it is not hard to do so at all. But, surprisingly, I find that Americans and other English speaking people, do not always have the best grasp of vocabulary. Isn't that funny? And, we have no excuse. It is our first language. Perhaps, it is because some people are not well educated or just plain lazy. And, others think it is funny to sound illiterate. With that being said, it's not important how you say something, only that you actually say it. Some of the best advice has never been spoken, for fear of rebuke. If you feel something, then post it. Others will discern your meaning and feel your sincerity. And, over time, you will become better and more confident at writing. P.S. You post very good discussions. Very thought provoking. Keep it up! Thanks!

If we will have to talk here, i mean there will be some voice chat or something liek that, i won't be probably memeber. I have sometimes problem to talk to the strangers, because i think they won't understand me or have a problem with my accent. My as a writing english I don't have any problem and also here on mylot i can improve my skills. Yeah maybe my grammar is not the best , but i really don't care much about that.

Hi! My mother tongue is Portuguese, but i started to learn english when i was 7 years old. Sometimes i joke about it: I usually say that english is my second tong. The difference in language may become a huge obstacle in human comunication in general, so i think this also can be applied in My Lot. In my case, when i write in english i sometimes use a dictionary to check my spelling or to find a word. People should be encouraged in participating in these kind of sites because they can also learn a lot reading others posts. Cheers. Martosi.
