How has the Internet changed your way of life.

I know we all get on our computers and surf the internet highway. But it has definitely changed my way of life. I now send e-mails instead of writing letters or making phone calls. It has stopped me from developing my film and buying pictures. Now I just buy them on CD and bring it home and download it. But I guess the biggest thing I am grateful for is it's communications. When my son was in Iraq we communicated almost daily (when he was in an area he could) and we instant messaged back and forth. It saved so much money over the international calls. And I didn't have to sit and wait weeks and months for a letter from him. I remember thinking about my maternal grandmother then. She had 11 children and 8 of them were sons. All 8 served in the military. She could only sit and wait for a letter and even after receiving it she didn't know if anything had happened to them since they mailed it. I just can't imagine what I would have done without the internet while my son was gone. It made me realize what a strong and courageous woman my grand mother was. My son is going back to Iraq in January for a second tour and you can believe that I will be putting the internet to good use. Oh yes, All 8 of my uncles came home from their wars. One uncle received 2 purple hearts.

Yes, the Internet has changed my life. I have spent much of the last 14 years online. First just puttering about looking at photos and meeting people in chat rooms. Soon after I learned the basics of web design and I was hooked. Now I spend most of my day online designing sites or writing backend programming. This has been helpful since I was recently hurt at work and have been spending the past few weeks awaiting a possible surgery. Without the Internet, I would not be able to supplement my income the way I have been so fortunate to have done these past few weeks. - Mike

That is wonderful. Hope your surgery goes well and you will be on the road to recovery soon. Being on the internet will make the healing process seem to go a lot faster. Good luck and thanks for responding.

Communication has come along way since the internet came about. I am so happy that you will be only be seperated by distance and have the internet to communicate to your son with during his 2nd tour. Your grandmother was courageous to have 8 sons serve at the same time. I am glad that they all returned home safely. One thing that I do, I have my cell alarm set for 9pm EST to reflect for our troops and their families.

What a great idea. I think I will set a little alarm clock for a certain time each day to stop and remember them and to send a prayer heavenward for them. Thank you for such a great suggestion. Hugs

It change my life too, but the most what it makes, save money to me.I have my family and all my friends far away from me and it is such nice to talk on skype and pay nothing for it.It really save me a lot of money.I am still writing hand-written letters though with my mum, even we call very often. It has just charm for me.Also now I am able to make a little extra cash on the internet and that really change my life, since I am no more bored and fell like I am doing something what I enjoy and have a little cash from it too.
