How much money can be made freelancing?

I just joined a freelancing website that I heard about from a fellow myLot member. So I logged in and was pleasantly surprised by the number of jobs available. I was even more surprised when I opened my email this morning to find even more brand new jobs that were posted. However, I was a little surprised about how low the hourly rate is. Some advertisers say that they will pay between $1-3 an hour. Is this pretty standard? Secondly, how does one continue with a long term relationship with an organization if personal information, such a email address, cannot be shared with the organization through the freelancing website? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I wish I could give you more informatio but I do not know what freelance site you are talking about. However I am a freelance writer and I do ok for myself. The first month I made $137, then last month I made $577. This month is lookng better and my goal is $900. I feel like freelancing is something that you should keep getting better at so you should keep making more money. I have never been paid by the hour when freelancning so i do not know the standerd rate. I have always been paid by the amount of pages I write. Must compaines pay about $2.50 to $3.00 a page. I can write a lot of pages in an hour so I guess you can look at it like that.

It sounds like you are doing pretty well with freelancing. The site that I'm on pays a little less than $2.50 a typed page. Did you go to a freelancing web site to establish your freelancing contacts, or did you establish clients within your local area? May I add you to be a friend, to discuss this topic more? Thank you for the post.

waterworld - care to mention any of the places you write for? i am working on this freelance thing too, but so far AC is the only place that I have found that works - and they have lowered their payments by about half - I was getting $6-$10 per article, now its $3-$4 and even declined a few after about 75 all purchased! So i am looking for new avenues to write. Thanks for any suggestions.

Thank you for the post. I sent you an add friend request. I will be more than happy to share the site with you. I don't think the payments will be much better, but I could be wrong. Thank you again.
